looks like a photo shop Naked SV650 + GSR600 headlight + GSXR750 exhaust and swingarm. Could be other stuff in there to, but it could all be yanked out of the parts bin like the bandit was. And remember how well that one sold

Don't like it.Bring back the curvy and who on earth decided those "fashionable" silly shaped headlights are a good idea?On naked bikes they should be round and maybe two of em.

If they want to improve the current bike stick the GSXR sstyle USD front end in with a decent set of callipers.

Nah, that'd make mine less cool 8) TBH, I don't think they'll do that- they'd have done it for the GSX600 if they were, to keep simplicity across the ranges. The GSX is supposed to be a higher-level model than the SV, so if they give us a better spec than it I'd be surprised.
I wouldn't be buying one, so what I want is parts I can use- a 700cc motor with an unburstable bottom end, with the same frame mounts and electrics :) My prediction is some emissions based changes, since IIRC the engine doesn't meet the next version of the euro regs. Ideally that'd mean smarter FI but I expect a cat. And if we get a cat, I expect a displacement increase to compensate for the power loss, since the last thing Suzuki will want to do is launch a model that makes less power and torque than last year's- especially on the SV where it's already criticised for a lack of power.

I would expect the new 650 would be producing around 80bhp and probably a few more cc's.
Lack of power? 70 horses from a small v-twin is not bad.
Like the looks.

I don't think it lacks power myself, but in absolutely every road test it comes up. Same things get criticised every time- least powerful in class, riding position, build quality, occasionally suspension.

Does the new pointy SV650 not have a cat in it now? Its in the end can.

Does it? Maybe it does, cats are usually before the can. (would that not cause problems when combined with the unburnt-fuel-burning-thang that K3s have?)

One in each end can on the 1k and one in the end can on the 650 02/06 bikes.
The unburnt-fuel-burning-thang is delt with by the PAIR.

The 3 way converter is located towards the front of the can, near where it bolts to flange
how does that affect emissions if you change the can? MOT fail....
still new bikes don't need one for 3 years

No emissions test on a bike MOT... Or at least, never has been on any of mine.

i was always made to belive the cat was in part of the standard can, dont all fuel injected bikes have one? cars needed to be fitted from 1992 k reg if they were fuel injected.

Northy..You may be correct about positioning of the cats normally although I can confirm that on the 749/999 Ducati's the one for the front cylinder is in the downpipe before it bends just near the right hand foot peg. Thw one for the rear cylinder is actually in the large under seat muffler. It is that which makes it uncommomly hot for a pillion.
That mock up SV looks fine to me although it does have a rather common naked bike theme running through it,(as it should of course) if the new model went half way close to that I think the SV would be getting a major upgrade.
Far better that shorty exhaust to my mind than under seaters.Wish there was one for my Ducati.

Yup, consider me slapped down about the cat :) Interesting though... Anyone know if the SV does conform to the next set of euro restrictions? If it doesn't (as I've heard a few times) and it's already got a cat, it's either going to mean a redesigned engine or open-loop fuel injection.

I really don't like it! And all the other new bikes for next year are looking so sweet.....
Like what? It's just a mock-up by someone guessing what it'll be like. Personally I think it will be completely different to this.
.
It seems a shame that other manufacturers arent producing twins in competition with the SV. Now that the GSR600 has been released, that will be the main opp to the Fazer, Hornet etc. The SV now is in a niche market of middleweight sports budget twins. Where is Honda and Yamaha's efforts? Im not a fan of fours.

Just paint the F'in forks black to match the GD F'n frame for once!! And make yellow a color option every year and we've got a winner!!!
:)
its all so.....angular :!: don't like that lamp shape at all. possibly needs more..........curves
