As you can see 2 out of 6 of the springs had broken, these were barnett springs, might send them an e-mail cause there no more than a year old
BTW you won't loose any engine oil from taking the clutch cover off while the bikes on the side stand and be aware of the big o ring, i used some Dow Corning auto silicone rubber sealant to stick the o ring back in
but doesn't clutch rattle make it sound more like a ducati :)

Got to say this again:
You don't need stronger springs in an SV clutch. Ever.
If the clutch is slipping then there's something wrong, the standard clutch can easily handle all the torque that an SV makes.
Whatever plates you use the SV clutch doesn't require more clamping pressure, stronger springs just make the clutch heavier for no benefit.

I am very sorry to hear about the problem you had with our clutch springs. We have had some known issues with some springs breaking. The problem has been traced to the gold zinc plating and we have taken the steps to correct it. We understand your frustration and it is very frustrating for us as we have been having our springs made this way for many years with no problems. Here at Barnett, we manufacture almost every thing in house to maintain quality control. Our springs are the exception as we have them made through a local supplier. Again, we have and are still taking the necessary steps to make sure that all of our products are of the highest quality.
and are sending me a set of springs

Well you can't say fairer than that. Although it's a hassle and shouldn't have happened. Hope the springs broke "clean" and there are no particles floating about in the oil. Maybe an oil change?

They did brake clean so i won't change the oil
I did however buy OEM springs and put them in so I've got a set of barnett springs spare when they come \:D/
If i ever replace the springs on my bike, i will definatly not put barnett ones. They just make the clutch too heavy. Mine needed doing as they were way out of spec so i just went with barnett. They are cheaper than OEM anyway.

When they show up, put them on E-bay and leave the standard weight springs in there.

In engine design we would never specify zinc plate/passivate for fasteners or components for stressed applications inside the engine. It is a well known phenomenon that electroplating causes embrittlement to some extent.
Steer clear of plated components for these types of things, they will almost always be aftermarket and done for the "bling" factor only.
There are some surface treatments which don't cause embrittlement, but engine/transmission parts are usually natural or some treatment specifically for wear properties (e.g. phosphate).
Note that black socket capscrews are usually a grade 10.9 or similar, but once plated they should be considered no more than 8.8 (strength rating).

Thats what i'm going to do but what with us giving them such bad press i don't think they'd sell know
I dont think that the squidmeister is saying that they are bad, its just that the SV does not need the extra clamping power of these springs.

Quite a few of the SV Rider crowd use 3 Barnetts, 3 OEM... Don't see much point myself.

I meant the press I've given them  Not incriminating anyone else
