I love my job, but today I feel even better about it than normal.

I've been working on some big cases that contain some REALLY nice kit. A 52 inch plasma screen, dvd console and satellite uplink. I'd done a couple of similar ones a few days ago. I knew they were for the MOD but that was all. Today a couple of guys turned up to take a look at them, and I overheard one of them say to my boss 'These will be in Iraq by the end of next week'

Whatever your thoughts on the rights or wrongs of the Gulf War, those are our lads and lassies out there doing their jobs, and if my job helps in some small way to make things out there a bit more comfortable................I'm over the moon.

Sorry.................just wanted to share my good feelings today

I'd love to sneak one out for you, Cloggsy......................but they're a bit big to shove up my jumper :D

I always feel a sense of pride when I'm doing stuff for the MOD. I kind of have a vested interest too, as my daughter plans to make a career in the army. She's been a cadet for three years and will sign up in two years time, after she's done her A levels.

my old trusty 28" is doing its job just fine evan if it is as big as a 2 seater sofa in the corner! :( when it fails i think it will have to be a 32" tft.(plasma start at 42" and thats too big for my lounge) :D

Tell her not to join the Army - too much like working for a living :!: The Air Force is much more relaxed (ask Richie1743,) Especially if she's planning on joining as an Officer

From personal experience, join the RAF and become an officer, it is a much more relaxed affair.

When I joined up (REME) and we went through selection, all those wanting to be Redcaps seemed to naturally end up at one end of the room talking only to each other! So the segregation starts early!

She sounds like she has got her head and heart set on it (like I did as a kid), I wish her all the best. If it's the kinda of life you want, and make a career of it, it's fantastic. A dodgy knee forced me to be medically discharged, and it's the only thing in my life I look back on and think 'what could have been'.

I've got a good friend out in the Gulf at the moment who, as a nurse, doesn't get to see much in the way of a 'nice side' to his posting. The camp is dry (no alcohol) and we aren't allowed to post him porn as it would only all get censored... so we send him Haribo instead.
He has managed to buy all series' of Angel for £25 though - so he'll need something to watch that lot on.

I'm sure your really very proud of her though Lissa. It's a brave decision she's made, and let's face it - their not all bad...are they? :D I wish her luck - life's full of tough choices and we have to hope that we make the right ones. It'll be great to kick ass...legally!!
