Has anyone had the speedo on a pointy go nuts on them before?
It was out last night left in the rain  and now the speedo reads 186 most of the time which is cool but a bit annoying!
If anyone has had this what did they do to fix it??
Thanks in advance
Pete

Last two times my speedo has gone nuts, its been the speedo drive on the front wheel.
Wandering if the speedo drive on your pointy is poorly ?
That certainly does sound like the culprit.
Take the front wheel off and inspect the drive. You will more than likely find that it falls to bits as you take it off.

I had this, had to do at a couple of little wheelies to knock it back into place.. Seems to have fixed it.

Right my speedo is up the creek again, about 90% of the time it is at 0mph. My bike is still under warranty. What are the chances that I take it to a dealers and they take it for a spin and it all works! :-k
Are they obliged to take it in and fix it, just from taking my word for it?

If your speedo is stuck reading 186mph then I'd advise you to film yourself driving through town on your bike, with the 186mph speed prominently displayed, even though it's obvious from the revs and scenery that you're not doing that speed.
Seems to be the trend on some biking videos lately, anyway! :D

doh. lent my bike to my bro today and the speedo stopped working. whee in the front wheel is the speedo wheel thing you all speak of. thanks
I had this happen to me twice, both after either heavy rain, or a jetwash. Once it dries out its fine, you got some water in past the seals, took mine about 2 days to come back to normal.
At one point the rev counter and the speedo were bouncing about all over the place when doing 30mph or so in 2nd.

Well it hasnt been jet washed and not ridden in the rain.. :(
Any other ideas where it actually is so I can take the front wheel off and check.

when you pull out the front wheel spindle the black speedo pickup will drop off the righthand side of your wheel and will be attached by a wire, this has little plastic arms on that meet your wheel and your wheel turns the speedo pickup, as already been said by someone these plastic arms are prob broken.
I'd check the battery terminals are on tight too

Well yesterday I rode my bike to work and the speedo magically started working again. To work and home.. Got it out this mornign and doh! No speed.
I am going to have to take it to bit arent I?
Has anyone got a spare part they would like me to have or buy?

I had exactly the same thing happen to me couple of years ago. taking it to bits is not too complicated even if your not used to getting the spanners out. Get it on a paddock stand and take the front wheel off and the sensor thingy is just there in the wheel and you take it out with your fingers, it might even drop out ( mine did!) as they often disintegrate with age. Its about £12 for a replacement one. Made of strange brittle resin with magnetic powder in it so take care when fitting the new one.:)

Well got my bike down to my friends workshop and he took the front wheel off it and there was four little arms spinning around in the box. So as suggested on here got a bit of superglue and stuck them back on. £0 spent and about 25 minutes of my friends time. Let him have a quick blast on the bike as a thanks!
How nice am I??
