I've already had my stainless heel guards powdercoated blue, and as it seemed a close match for the Sv blue have opted to have the torque arm, rear caliper mount and Givi rack done.

Thank you. :)
Only 25quid which I think was very reasonable. The heel plates were a fiver the pair.
You know how minging the caliper mount gets so hopefully it should clean up easier with a smooth surface. The rack was very worn on the top plate and also those bare ali brakets are matched in now.
Of course only time will tell if the finish lasts.

I already had the heel plates, but they were looking a bit tatty where my boots touched. Could have polished em, but fancied a change. I wanted purple to match the wheels, but it was more pink, so I've gone for the blue. It's a solid colour, not metallic. They keep this in stock , but you can have any colour , although it costs £100 for them to buy the paint apparently.
I just visited a local place, only 5 minutes away, and they've been very helpful.
In this pic you can see the colour better.

very nice pete  like it a lot.
just out of interest, how tough and durable is the paintwork (thinking scuffs, stonechips, salt etc). how are you fixed for touchups if you ever need to do it :?:

With the torque arm, get some heavy grease or silicon goop into the holes in the arm before you fit them, or it'll rust from there and spread under the coat. The nuts'll chew the finish up anywya when you fit it but hopefully not too badly. Looks excellent, now lets see 'em on the bike :)

Well that's the 64,000 dollar question Malc. Figured at the price it's not that much of a worry. The heel plates can be stripped back to the polished finish if needs be.
Our powdercoated wheels are about 30 months old and apart from a chip, when I dropped a caliper on it, are fine. In fact on our rideout today, a guy was there with a bandit that had the wheels done the same colour as ours. He'd seen ours and wanted em done. About a month old. Parked ours next to his and the shade was the same, ours hadn't faded at all.

Thanks for the advice Northwind. Gonna try and get some of those clear plastic washers to save the finish.

It's not really paint, it's a baked-on coating. it's very tough... But it is vulnerable to crushing and blunt impact... This is because it's thick and a little soft. This tends to mean that with wheels, they get torn up in no time, just because dealers tend not to be as careful as you'd like. But it's more abrasion resistant than paint, tends not to chip badly from stones... Good stuff.
If you can find an exact colourmatch you can touch it up, but since the powders aren't colourmatched to any paints the same applies- you can't just go to Halfords and buy the right pen, you need to hope there's one that's just right. Pain in the ****, basically ;)
unless you have your wheels done in ford signal orange

so you can get us discount for forum members then
This is a point of intrest for me as the paint on the Kwak's wheels is pretty thin and didn't really survive the drive through the gravel trap at the end of druids captured here
<------
How well can places colour match a powder coarting and how much do do a set of wheels if I could deliver the wheels without tyres, discs etc?

They don't colour match, as such, you just pick a colour.
