So I'm guessing from the forum I'm not the only one who is having problems with the rain. Yes apparently as well as suffering from carb icing in the cold my 99 SV650's now doesnt like water, with one cylinder working on the M25 it was a most enjoyable ride home. According to my local mechanic a fender extender will solve all my problems.

We did a 603 mile day in torrential rain coming back from Germany last year.

Bike never missed a beat.....................and yes, we have a fender extenda. Had a few problems before we fitted it, but certainly not every time it rained.............it had to be REALLY heavy rain.

new svs come with a rubber rain flap at the front
i didnt like the fender extender so made my own ally rain flap that comes from the radiator cover! works

Yes once you fit a fender extender, or anyother device to stop the front pug from getting waterlogged, then you will happy rainfree running :)

My SV never stared to show symptoms for over 2 and a half years, but hwen i started, it never stopped.

I have a k3s and it never missed a beat even in the most torrential rain that the uk has to offer.

I concur. Also have an SK3 and it never missed a beat, even in torrential rain.

I should be getting an extenda from daddy sperm pretty soon and I'll let you know if it makes a difference.

No, I don't have a fender extender. In fact, I haven't done any mods at all. There is,
however, a small piece of rubber hanging from the radiator which comes as standard.

My 2000 Curvey started doing that. after fitting the fender extender no problem, but had to change the front plugcap as the water had knackered that as well.

A friend of ours has the pointy, and his bike died completely on one wet rideout. Needed copious squirts of WD40 to get him running again. Before we fitted the fender extenda ours would maybe stutter once or twice in really heavy rain, but it never died, like his did.

My SV rapidly became an SV325S in the rain before I fitted a fender extenda...

my 03 pointy runs like a dog in the wet, coughing, spluttering and stalling
a fender xtender seems to be the way to go

I have a fender extenda, i have no problems in the rain with the piston, however I do with the electrics or the carbs, as it likes to bog down at low revs in the wet...

No fender exterder of anything else fitted, the area around the front plug does get wet but the water dosent seem to get below that into the plug.
