Ok so Tuesday on my way home from college in pouring rain my oil warning light comes on 500m from home...kill engine.....coast into garage....leave 10 mins to cool and check oil level/filter/drain plug....all fine. start bike and warning's gone off :) .

This morning i fire bike up and leave for 30 secs on choke while i lock garage up etc. set off to work having knocked choke off with no problems. Pull up at set of lights and bikes idling at 3000 Rpm, wiggle choke lever and nothing happens. Get to work and try to free choke cable. Check it again at dinner and still ticking over at around 2800-3000 rpm when it warms up.

Got home and prop tank up to give cable a good oil and nothing. take airbox off to get a better view and notice drops of what appears to be engine oil come out, looks like theres 10-15ml. Now after another greasing and having airbox off the bike won't idle at all without twisting throttle a bit  won't even start without throttle  .

Ideas anybody ?? I'm starting to get very worried

check free running of choke cable!
also adjust the idle screw!
and the tension on the throttle cables!

I thought thats its fairly normal to get a little thin oil in the air box from the crankcase breather pipe.

As stated, you will get a bit of oil in the bottom of the airbox from the crank case breather hose.

How dumb do i feel

Just gone back out and noticed that the choke splits into two at a connector, I'd only been oiling it BEFORE that point  Don't know why it wouldn't start after a while though :-k And good to know that the oil is normal, I was getting worried that it was sucking it up from somewhere causing the warning the other day.

Thanks for the info people...i'd be lost without this forum :grouphug:
