Great, so you are paying off debts, then getting a k5 gsxr with insurance and racking up more debt. Smart! Congrats on getting the money though, and if it's from any family/friend who has passed away then my condolences.

If you've got about £3k spare for a bike and insurance consider looking at something a little less new, 01-03 SS600s can be had for less than £3k, and if you sold the SV you could end up without incuring any debt at all for a fast bike, plus some accessories... That's what I did, £2950 for a 2001 ZX6R with 2,900 miles on the clock, deals are out there, don't get sucked into the "gotta have it cos it's the latest greatest" syndrome if money's a factor.

Why the heck is your insurance so high???

Try someone else if there is no obvious reason as I have never heard anything that high.

They basically don't want to insure him, but it's easier to just price people out rather than actually refuse to insure them. I was quoted "only" £1K for TPO on a Hayabusa at age 22, no NCB, which I'd say was probably about right, whereas £900 TPO on a ss600 isn't really something most people would consider.

Recently purchased a K4 Gixxer 6, you can see it in my profile <----

My insurance TPFT with Ebike is £400. Thats being parked off road at night, with Datatag System 3, AlphaDot and Oxford Monster chain and lock!

I'm 27, 0 no claims, 2 months to go.....

Why not get a slightly older Gixxer and don't insure it Fully comp....waste of time in my opinion unless your accident prone and intend on falling of a lot! Even then, you'll never end up with any no claims...so whats the point!

If I fall of mine, my wallets get dented but not massively! Ego takes a hit and thats about it....

Up to you though...I know whats it like to have money burning a hole! Luckily I managed to resist the ZX10 that I put £250 deposit down on.....Pheeewww!

Sometimes fully comp is a waste of time. My gf crashed her car. A small front shunt. They wrote it off and gave a her a tiny cheque, that clearly can't cover the cost of getting a new one, and now her new insurance is a lot higher!. I just have TPFT on mine, and make sure I don't crash and make it my fault.

Do what Jambo said

I'm having that made up as a T-shirt

Seriously having an "older" or used bike can help insurance out a lot, as can going TPFT, investing in some security etc etc etc.... Plus, trust me on this, a mint 3 or 4 year old SS600 is in no way fat / sluggish etc etc etc, as I'm not a racer I don't need this years model, and I'd be quite supprised if you do either, keep the cash and you'll be happier
