View Full Version : Cheap but quality bike insurance
I've notice quite a few glowing reports about ebike on this forum so I thought i'd give them a go - nothing to lose, so
Bennetts last year - fully comp on a SVS K1 with 4 yrs NCD - garaged etc = £144
ebike (on line) this year - same spec = £94 - and that was with UK breakdown cover which covers you for 6 brerakdowns.
That works out at £1.80 P/W for bike insurance.
I know I'm an old bugger (47) and the bike is only a group 10, but I only passed my test last year - so I am a risk in the "experience stakes".
Great value....worth a try
cheers all..... 8)

yep - I insured 3 bikes fully comp for £150 with ebike. The renewal on the SV ( with Bennetts ) was £144 on its own.
:o Ooh...being in a similar position myself (Bennetts, 46, NCD etc)....could be worth a look...what with the breakdown cover too... :D
Not too bad on my quote SV650S, and ER5, with fault claim last year so no no claims, £1331 tpft.
Rampdale £1200ish which is who im with.

i cant fault Hastings direct.
Personally I found ebike approximately £400 more than several other companies. I found Premium Choice the cheapest and the most helpful.

I used to be with Direct Bike Insurance, but those people were a nightmare to deal with when I was hit by an idiot, who failed to stop. Even when it was clearly not my fault they stripped me of my NCB and I was stuck with a slow-as-a-snail solicitor, who was dealing with MIB on my behalf :?
I'm now with ebike, who charged me 520 TPFT. Considering that I'm living in NW London, park the bike in the street, 25 years old, been riding bigger bikes for just over 2 years and have no NCB, I think it's good value for money. Can't really say what they are like when it comes to claiming, but hope to never find out ;)
I think that at the end of the day the main thing about insurance companies is what they are like when it comes to dealing with them. Insurance premiums will vary depending on rider age, where they live, experience and past history. Judging an insurance company just by looking at the premium they charge is a bit pointless IMHO.
Maybe someone knows a good source of insurance service comparison like "Which"?

I was with motorcycle direct for the SV, then switched to eBike with the KTM, eBike were a good £400 cheaper than everyone else :!: I always shop around for insurance cover though... Best way to save a few quid IMHO

sorry to change the thread but whats happening with katie m anyhow?
...quality bike insurance?
Cheap yes, and they will be my next insurer for just that reason. However, I don't think anyone can comment on their quality yet.
Time will tell, when the unfortunate moment arrives - when eBike have to handle a complicated claim. How it is handled will determine if they are quality or not.
Well, i have been playing around with Ebike insurance. They dont seem that cheap for me.
Quote for a brand new Tuono, 6 years NCB, 34 year old rider, not garaged £1674 FC. Cheapest quote i had using the Bike equivilent to Confused, Was £800FC
As a reference,
My SV
2001 model, from new, X plate, not garaged, as above £165TPF&T, i currently pay £103
So this highlights what may be good for one, may not be good for another

Sounds like me! my solicitor is slow as hell! keep chasing him up but he doesn't sound too botherd!!! I'm with insurance 2000 who were cheaper than anyone else for me, but I'll try e-bike when I need to renew. :crutches:
Insurance companys are very good at taking money off you but hate giving any money back!!!!! :toss:
Just for the records as I was searching about ebike when I found this thread:
You dont have to accept the solicitor your insurers appoint.
If youre not happy you can find another one. White Dalton are apparently recommended - Valman will confirm that no doubt.

I with e bike...
due for renewal this July - so we will see if it was a sprat to catch a mackerel..when I was a new customer and they were a newish company ....
I hope not!- cos they were well cheaper than others... but I aint had cause to use them yet!
I did use carole nash - (when i had a big off 10 mins after getting my bike !) ..and I cant fault them -!.......
so until i need to actually call on e bikes services I cant comment if it is false economy ... !
Like everyone- i go for the cheap and hope I dont need them! ... cos we gotta be insured so chepest is best--- but is it when push comes to shove !?

When I was looking for insurance, Bennetts quoted me £850 TPFT. I rang Carole Nash and their quote was £1500! When I told the woman that I could get it for £850 with Bennetts, she instantly matched their offer and would also knock another £100 off if I got an alarm fitted by them as well. She also said that if I found a better offer then give her a ring and she would see if they could match it! I said I think about it but went looking elsewhere (ebike) and got a quote for £600 full comp! I didn't have the balls to go back to Carole Nash, but it would have been interesting to see what they made of that quote - especially considering CN's full comp was about £2000!
