Thought i'd let you that since Christmas i've been making steady progress with my guitar, with the help of some lessons as well.

In the three months i've been playing i've learnt:
Oasis-Wonderwall
Oasis-Supersonic
Green Day-Basket Case
Black Sabbath-Paranoid
Bon Jovi-Livin on a Prayer
AC/DC-Highway to Hell

None are by any means perfect IMO, with an odd missed note or not quite up to speed, but they're all sounding pretty good. Most of them were chosen by my tutor as they cover different techniques and stuff.

I might post a recording in a few weeks as a progress record.

Something i've notced this past month as my repertoire has improved, practice has gone from a chore to something i enjoy

I'll be able to sleep well tonight, now

Some people might be interested. Its a good thing to know an instrument.

Only kidding! :-)

I tried, but I can't find the time. I'm envious of anyone with musical ability and the time to learn new things :-(

Lee.

I knew you were jealous :D

I get in at least 20 minutes a day, even if its just picking up and playing through a song once or twice just before bed. Little and often is best.

mysteryjimbo, good on you mate, keep at it. takes time but it will come. found the fun factor i see. try and see if you can get together with some like minded people (learning) seems lot less of a chore and you practise together.

by the way, if you want to listen to some sweet guitar, check out a song called Manhatten by Eric Johnson and Flying in a blue dream by mr.Joe Satriani. enjoy. :D :D

As for drums, e-bay has kits pop up quite cheap. quality is average but if its a starter kit or childs kit you guys are after, its a good place to start if you want to keep the price down :D

I've been playing electric guitar for 10 years now, its a great instrument!

Check out my band www.hostilewarriors.co.uk for music and pictures if you want.
Urine love is our new song (media - mp3 section), the solo at the end is phenomenal, but sadly is NOT me, its our other guitarist James Blunt (real name!).

I hate him.

No, I firmly believe in the teacher being better than the pupil I'm afraid :P

In all seriousness, if you are any good at mechanics, you can come down here and I'll have a jam with you if you stop my bike from making funny popping noises :)

i started playing in feb,

im self taught so far.

i can play a few songs so far,
getting the hang of the pentatonic scale.

i found a few useful websites.
and a program called guitar pro 5 which is pretty good, it basically shows you tabs and stuff, and how to play songs and stuff.

Just blagged a cheap n'nasty "axe"  and some dodgy foot high practice amp for some fretboard trickery off a pal. First time I have picked up an electric in over ten years. Backed Green Day then. BJ said my playing was "aggressive" . ......whit did he know?...............oh look! Millionares!

Wished i had never stopped. Poor neighbours though. A barely silenced SV every morning then me murdering Sabbath at night.
