View Full Version : Strange clicking noise.......

And no it's not my nervous twitch! :P
I've fitted an aftermarket can (a FUEL exhaust) to my new SV650 K5 (only don 1'500 miles) and I have removed the baffle to get that lovely growly goodness. However, sometimes when I'm sat at lights and I blip the throttle the engine doesn't rev. Instead I get a sort of a click noise. Could this be a misfire? Never happened with the standard can. It only happens very occasionally so I'm not majorly concerned but just wanted to see of anyone else had this little gremlin and what it could be.
Cheers,
Dan

I have an art exhaust and i removed the baffle for the same reasons and i have a k4 650s and i cant say i have the same problem. If i use engine braking or slowing down at a junction i get popping/ burble, thats about it

Pop and burble on a K4 also but thats it. Cant see how an exhaust would make your bike do that though. Sorry I can't be of any more help.

good init! cant help with the clicking tho (ear plugs maybe  )
Is it a click or more like a "ca chink" when you blip the throttle at very low revs?
I have a Scorpion with the baffle removed, and mine clicks too if I rev it when stationary.
Its not like a 'ca chink' but just a 'click'
Totally baffles me, I'm just living with it. Sort of like its flooding or something :?

Okay so maybe my description of the sounds was a bit naff! It is a little more like a ca-chlink (not to be confused with a click OR a ca-chink!) :D My olf VFR used to do it now and again once I'd put on an race can. Also when I am starting from cold I now need to apply some revs to get it started, I never needed to with the standard can so I guess it does make a difference. And it's not a popping or a burble it's more like the cyclinders are misfiring as when I twist the throttle the enigne only responds with the clicky noise and the revs don't rise. Just hope it's nothing major. Although I still have my warranty.
