Maintaining rubber bits

Ok basically im getting my gsxr ready and was wondering if theres anything to treat the rubber components on it. For example there are some rubber bits joining the SRAD bits to the airbox and dont really want these cracking. Is there anything you can do to keep them in good conidition.

I guess this could apply to alot of rubber hoses aswell, apart from soaking them in water and soap I cant think of anything

I seem to remember someone using don't laugh K_Y jelly as a lubricant to keep hoses in good condition, safe as apparently it doesn't rot rubber :lol:

Sounds sensible. Don't use vaseline as that does damage rubber. :oops: :D

I would have thought the life expectancy of the rubber components to be in excess of 10yrs-------But if interested Volvo Penta make a special marine grease for rubber and only minimal application is required

I have some spray for plastic and rubber. protects and shines very well. It's made by Meguiars was £6 for a bottle and lasts ages. Makes the seats look like new.

I bought a job lot of Meguiars stuff when I had my RX8 and its all proved to be excellent on the SVs apart from the leather polish not found a use for that yet :?

It's the reason people use the afformentioned jelly, rather than vaseline with prophylactics. Or so I'm told... :oops: :D
