I know this topic has been bouncing around a lot on this forum and I have searched the archives yet can't find the answers I'm looking for.
Is a shock from a GSXR-750 K5 a straight swap? Does it need any rebuilding to be setup correctly (kind of setup svraceshop.com would suggest) or is it good as stock?
Also do I need to modify the SV in anyway to fit it?
Bike is an SVS K3.
Thanks
Luke

You need to cut the battery tray a little, and you need a GSXR shock linkage nut&bolt (£3). Other than that it goes straight in.

Gixxer 1000 k3-k5 fits, straight in, with a little cutting of the battery box.
Really only worth doing if your a fat bas***d i.e over 14-15st like me. :D
Steve Jordans Nr Guildford is the place to get it set up, fitted etc. I got a K5 gixxer shock unused on ebay ofr £50.

When you say cut a bit what do you mean?

Can't remember exactly will have to look at mine again, but from memory you cut a bit of it away, from side of it. Battery still seems snug mind. I believe it is so that the reservoir at the top of the spring can fit. maybe..... :?
The resovoir is wider than the battery box holder on the left, so it needs a little cut.

Had a look at this earlier but can't figure out what you mean. I'm guessing that the shock can be fitted 2 ways by rotating it 180 degrees. Is it not possible to rotate it so that the reservoir is on the right? (looking at it from the left side of the bike) I haven't tried this yet - just having a look at the existing shock, so I may be wrong!
A picture of a pointy with a GSXR shock fitted would be grand - anyone? :D

I mean a bit so the piggyback reservoir can fit. It's not as drastic as it sounds, and the battery doesnt need mounting elsewhere or anything. It's simply shaving enough out of the box to give the shock room.
