i remember watching dixon of dock green on a saturday night waiting for my dad to pick me up on way home. after the football round up. always made me laugh - forfar - four east fife - five always said with a posh english accent.

i asked my daughter the other day to get me a packet of opal fruits. she looked at me blankely. when did they change to star burst - stupid name.

also remember penny dainties which were highland toffee chews wrapped in tartan paper at the cost of 1p. they filled your mouth and you spent next hour looking like a hamster (say nothing those who know me) you still get the toffee but its tiny now and costs 5p.

and talking of money who remembers those bloody half pennies. everything cost 99.5 p

From my early telivision days where channel was selected with a big clunky knob

The wooden tops with spotty dog and slowcoach the tortoise.

Andy pandy and that hoosy Looby Loo

Bill and Ben with weeeeeeed

only one flavour of crisp :- ready to salt

Filling stations where the man filled it for you.

The first cars that I remember were my dads, Anglia, mk1 cortina and mums Triumph herald, and then dads mk10 Jag with a cocktail cabinet and fold down table in the back.

My school uniform, green cap and blazer, green overcoat and even our socks had to have to green bands round the tops. hand and shoe inspection on the way in and having to change out of "outdoor" shoes in the cloak room before class. I felt sorry for my sister as she had to have a straw boater to replace her school hat in summer and looked a "proper nana".

LSD proper money. hapenny, penny, threepenny bits, sixpence, shilling, 2 bob, half a crown, 10 bob note. 240 pennies to a pound. yet my dad always did his fee notes in guinees.
