I phoned Almax chains this afternoon to order a chain and lock. Rather than simply takeing my order they asked what bike(s) I will be using it for and where, how etc. We spent a total of 70 ( Seventy  ) minutes on the phone, with Alex describing the best ways to secure my particular bikes, options for anchors, joining chains etc. After deciding, he made up a package to suit my circumstances at a good price - and even then didn't push me to make a purchase if I wasn't sure.
Very helpful guy indeed - I'm so looking forward to receiving my 20 Kilo's of chain on Friday :D

Agreed, almost twice my annual premium, but when you take into account ( assuming a bike theft ) the excess to pay, having no bike until replaced, having to argue the toss, increased premiums - it all becomes worthwhile.

Ah, thats if you care. If i wake up and my bike has gone, then so beit to be honest. Its insured. yes it will be inconvienent, but for about 15 mins, while i go in aand get changed and get the train to work. I can see the benefit for those whose only mode of transport it is, but for my bike, the alarm is enough.
