Just got in from work, having ridden hoe in a downpour. Wearing my new HG waterproof trousers http://forums.sv650.org/viewtopic.php?t=35511. I've been pleased with them so far, warm and comfortable without being too thick or bulky. Anyway, after five minutes I felt soaked to the skin from the waist down. On getting home however, I found I was actually completely dry  Is this normal for wearing textile trousers?

Not that much! I felt drenched, and I can't see that being sweat caused by raining.

maybe you were just cold, the rain might have got through the outer layer, and sat closer to your skin and then the wind has made it cold ????

I'd have been warm if I'd p****d myself, not cold.
when i wear my textile jacket in the rain, without the the thermal lining i feel like i'm wet and in fact i'm dry.
its defo the cold.
one day it'll catch me out and i will actuallu be wet and walking around the office looking like i've pi$$ed myself and not notice.

THis would make sense, as they were very heavy when I took them off, as if they'd absorbed a lot of water.

I've got a pair of HG textile waterproof trousers and they feel the same way. I discussed this with one of the boys in the shop and he explained it like this...
"The surface of the fabric is designed to repel water, but after a long downpour it will get penetrated. Below the surface layers is the waterproof membrane. Once the outside is saturated the water passes thru easily to the liner and runs down and out the leg bottoms"
I've gotten off the bike several times convinced the liner has given up and i'm gonna be wet, only to find that i'm not.
I've also now got into the habit of running to the bathroom and standing in the bath as i get undressed if i've been in a serious downpour as i know there will be a lot of water leaving from the bottom of the legs.
I've had mine, and worn them daily, for about the last 2 yrs now. And theyre still waterproof. Thankfuly.
hth :)
think you might need a cathater (sp?) and a wee bag
