well !! tell more !!
well !! tell more !!
What a rediculous motorcycle!
Power... power... and more power. Instantly - as soon as you need it.
Slim bars, twitchy at low speeds, but rolls around on the tyres and into corners wonderfully. Lovely sound, and on the stock exhaust too - no need for cans.
Good brakes, even if they are only 4 pot calipers, a good stopping experience, not too hard, react as you'd expect them to.
What I can't get over, because I haven't experienced on a bike as much as this... is that even at 90-100 mph, you can still feel the front end going light!
I only took up the lane for a few minutes, and onto the B-road. A nice little circular route giving a few little corners, some lanes, and a few nice straights.
Good easy fun!

did you hit the 'limiter' at any point? Its like someone has jammed the brakes on!! Insane!! :D
They have a nice sound anyway, but belieave me with a set of race cans on they are very 'Rude'!!! :)
Are you going to get one?!?!? :)

I rode one for couple of hours once. The WOO! factor wore off after about an hour, and for the last half hour in traffic I just wanted to set fire to the thing.

Billy, I found the 6 pots aren't as effective/sensitive as the 4 pots (and they are heavier) - one of my mates has the SP-2 and the other an MV Agusta SPR with the same brakes as the SP but 6 pot instead of 4s, they are require more input and do not feel any stronger - most (if not all) of the superbikes run 4 pots. The SP brakes are awesome although I know a few people think too sensitive on the initial bite.
The SPs are great bikes though - my friend has leo vinci's on his and I can't hear my gixxer when he's in front, my fairing vibrates under the exhaust note within 10 foot of the SP. Why they don't come with a steering damper as standard I don't know as the front end does feel light and you can get a tank slapper on very easily.

SP1 & SP2 are famous for their incompatibilty with the human body...

I'd totally agree with that... I had a choice of 4 or 6 for my GSXR front end, tried both, and the 4-pots have all the power you could ever conceivably want, when set up well. The 6 pots trade feel and sensitivity for more power, which you just don't need IMO, as well as being heavier and having higher running costs. In the end it wasn't really much of a decision, I couldn't see a single plus to the 6s other than that they impress some people more.

The SP1 is the best handling machine I have ever ridden - and I am notorious 8) for 'test rides' in Edinburgh, having taken most things out. This one had Ohlins all round and had been set up properly. It was absolutley phenomenal in the twisties

SP1/SP are superb! Not ruling out getting one before I turn to more sensible machinery. With Arrows cans on they sound brilliant! :P

One of my mate's dad's mates has one, and they are gorgeous bikes, after a sit on I don't think I am compatable with it either! I think my next bike will be an Sv1000s, I was going to get and R6, but I think I like twins more now :P

Litre twins ROCK!!!!!
I would so have an SP2 if i could afford to have 3 bikes but i would have to buy an oil company to run 2 large twins, and espicially if ducati bring out a 12oo twin, OMG
Thats it, I have decided i need a bigger garage, hang on , I need a garage!1 I also need buckets of money
Litre twins ROCK!!!!!
I would so have an SP2
How exactly does the SP2 differ to the SP1? Obviously it's more recent, and the styling is a bit more up to date - but are there any significant differences?

One of the big differences I noticed was the FI. On the SP1 I found it really snatchy and just plain painful in town. But the SP2 seemed to be more smooth and the rideing position was a bit less painful too. Lovely machines. Sigh.

IIRC the SP2 got much bigger injectors. Possibly a different master cylinder too. And some other stuff. THere was a thing in PB a while back about the differences.
