Approx 130mph

Book says 69hp @ Crank

Top speed...hmmm, gearing, but you loose acceleration. Smaller rear sprocket.

HP, usualy, cans, filters, engine mods

Buy a better bike

and mine is restricted so only just goes over 100mph

but 130mph sounds gd to me

is there nothing else to do to improve the bhp

what hpyou looking at with k&n's and racing system

whats the top speed on the curvy sv650s - loads of posts about this already - an indicated 135 was the best I saw

and whats the max bhp - this one always leads to loads of arguments due to differences between dyno machines, atmospherical conditions, simulated air speeds, bhp @ crank/wheel

and how can you increase both - how much money have you got and how reliable/rideable do you want the bike to be

In all honesty its how much money do you want to spend? Cans and filters will give you about 6hp in tru terms, thats with a full system cost about £800- all in with dyno time etc. If you go engine mods, then the skys the limit.

Whack a can on it, and learn to ride the bike 1st is my honest opinion. I mean i have had my bike 6 years now, and to be honest, i have only ever maxed it out probably about 20 times or so.

Fit fuel injection as carbs suck.

Buy an SV thou ;) Tuning an SV for power in its own right is pretty expensive, and it'll never be all that powerful. They've been taken to over 100bhp, naturally aspirated, but it'd cost as much as the bike and they're not built for long life.

Standard power is in the region of 70bhp, depending on who you believe ;) Mine ran at 69.5 at the rear wheel when standard, but dynos are deceitful creatures, I could probably have put it on another machine the same day and got 65. Either could be right.

Myself, I would say that cams make more sense than cans. £130 for a set of K3 intakes and some CCT gaskets, DIYable for the competent (couple of hours labour for pros I'd expect), and comparable power to a full system and filter/rejet. Even if you do the induction on the supercheap like me- second hand system, filter and jet kit, all work DIYed, setup done by the oh-so-accurate butt dyno, it still costs.

Mate if you tune the bike when restricted you may make it over 33BHp, this would mean that technically your licence didn't cover you to ride the bike, so I'd just appriciate that when you take the restrictors out you'll get over 100% power Hike for free.

well both suck!
they both need air!
and the venturi effect isnt the reason they suck! its what they use to produce lowpressure inside the carb to suck fuel into the system and mix the air fuel mixture!

ps .. carbs are the best!

Trade in the sv and get a bigger bike or sports bike, you could get an older sports bike for a bit more im sure, cheapest mod out there in power to money terms
