will still do a ton!
just not as quick as a full power one!
and if you have the certification of restriction and havent tampered with the bike and your lucky enough to have a bike that isnt restricted.......enjoy yourself!

It just feels real fast, ha! probably cus my last bike was a 1979 superdream, true more power is more fun... and i have got the certificate...

thanks

Im also having problems with islands and conering, some corners im fine but some i find myself creeping round like an old granny, i no i have to lean the bike but it just scares me and i dont rely no how to do it, i used to be fine with my smaller less powerful bikes but the sv scares me a bit, i'd a appreciate any tips or advice...

cheers

i could comfortably sit at 90mph in 6th at 7000 rpm, now mine does 100mph at 7000 with no mods other than restrictors removed

so yeah, that souds about right all depends on the wind behind you

Yeah becasue you insurance is still valid isn't it.    (no it aint by the way)

My 33bhp number is perfectly adequate for what I use it for - commuting and racing about everywhere. Much more fun that the full power sv in my opinion.

#-o don't want to sound like a nobber but surely the power makes no difference to the gear ratios - therefore to the speed at certain revs.

my bike was restricted by the amount of air that travels from the airbox to the carbs, therefore it seems that more air at 7k means more power and then more speed, or maybe my carbs are outta sync  who knows

This is my first post. Is this forum mainly based in Europe?? I'm in the U.S. What restructions??? I topped my 650s at 10k rpm's at 137mph. Just wanted to see what she'll do. Don't plan on doing it again.

Hiya, the sv will feel like a huge jump but you'll soon get used to the extra power.

Give it time to get used to the handling. i role a 125 scoot before the sv and corners can feel quite scarey at first. I think this is partly due to the fact that the sv is quite long.

Practice, practice practice. I used to do all sharp corners in first and crawl around them sometimes needing the clutch if I was going that slow! however you will soon get to know how the bike feels in corners and get more confident.

Do it at your own pace, you'll get there

Being a new rider I had my k6 restricted from new till not long after the first service...
(I now use it unrestricted for 'Track-Use' only of course ) hehe

Restricted: 113 mph (7.5k RPM)
Unrestricted: 140 mph (10.5k RPM)
(Red Line is 11k RPM)

Main difference is the length of time it takes...
When it's restricted, you open it up and it feels like it's being bogged down and really unhealthy. Unrestricted it feels like it's running properly :)

(For anyone not in the UK... if you have had your full bike licence under 2 years {or haven't completed a 'Direct Access' course for those over 21} you have to have the bike restricted to 33bhp... officially :P)

Can anyone tell me, how to remove the restriction?

No, revs are directly linked to speed unless your clutch is slipping

Pass a DAS exam or wait 2 years after you pass a restricted exam.

For pointys you need to unplug your restricted ECU and plug in you "old" full power one, you will still have this because no garrage has ever swapped them over and kept your ECU to sell on to another customer

FOr curvey's there are 2 methods, one stops the carb sliders from opening all the way, TSM did a "how to" on removing these but they are quite uncommon. More usually popping the carbs off will show you a metal disc between the carb and engine block restricting airflow, pop it out, refit carbs and done.

TSM's guide is here: http://forums.sv650.org/viewtopic.php?t=26902&highlight=restriction

Say you want the standard ECU for 'Track Use' and get them to write a letter for you to sign to say you will replace your restricted ECU as per your licence. Removes their obligation to keep it!
