can somebody tell me the easiest way to do this please i am using windows media player 10 on windows xp,
please note i am not a techno-bod so please pretend you are talking to a 5 year old

patrick i tried it but its way too complicated for me....configure this download that ..change this setting..convert that setting...
is there an easier way

Here is what you do :
Start Cdex.
Click on Convert Tab, then Re -encode compressed audio files.
Select what file(s) you want to convert, click on convert.
BINGO
This will help you aswell. (http://home.iprimus.com.au/alexanderino/cdex/)
You don't need to worry about the lame codec. It will work with the standard one aswell. the lame codec is just better.
I find the easiest way, if you want to take music from a CD and convert to MP3 is to use the latest version of Windows Media Player.
You can use the tools function to set the format you want to rip to.
