Went out for a ride today, but I noticed that there was a really bad rattlign noise- worst when I went over bumps. Stopped a couple of times to check, couldn't work out what it was- bumped it about on the stand and nothing. Carried on, clatter clatter. Starting to get a bit paranoid, I've been tinkering these last few days and it's been known for me to leave a bit off. New brake disc just fitted, serviced the caliper, lots of things to go catatrophicalyl wrong there. Check the wheel. All present and correct. Brakes fine too. Clatter clatter.
Who can guess what it was?
Front mud guard come loose? Happened to me once when i didn't tighten it up properly after refitting!!
Or maybe tools left under your seat?

You were so close too. I'd attached a bloody great padlock to my luggage rack, and it was rattling off the frame.

So what's the padlock for. Don't say 'for the garage' :).
Once had something hit fly past and hit my leg as it went past. What's that?
Oh lights have gone red , hit the brakes , bites for a split second then no brakes. The bike shop had forgotten to do up the brake caliper bolts  .
Luckyly I had the presence of mind to go inbetween the cars but had to run the red. (phew..).
Cheers

For the garage.
No, really. Our garage door's currently held shut with string. Got a big cheap bolt the other day, and I'll be using my rubbish Oxford padlock to lock it... I was dragging it around to check it'd fit any bolt I bought.

Now that is funny  .
There is me thinking there is no how it'll be for the garage so I'll be safe with that.

Good to see you have tracked it down and it was nothing untoward.
I have done something similar once … kept hearing this rattle, I was convinced something was a bit loose at the front, perhaps some wires were rattling about in the fairing!? … after lots of wobbling of wires, fairings etc I just couldn’t find the culprit … it took me about a week to finally track it down .. what was it?!?! It was a bit of loose fragment in one of the vents that had cracked in/on my lid!!! doh!!! :D
So - been there done that mate!! :D
