View Full Version : Multibike insurance question
I've got an SV and a scooter. When I renew my insurance, do I have insure the scooter as well as the SV or can I just get a policy for the SV that covers third party on other bikes?
I'm getting quotes of £200/300 for TPFT with an excess of £450 for a scooter that is only worth £500 :? Doesn't seem worth insuring it for theft does it!

Generally it's a case of insuring the biggest/ highest value machine and a nominal charge for any others on the policy.
third party on any other bike, doesn't cover bikes you own.

I think for this bit to work
can I just get a policy for the SV that covers third party on other bikes?
The other bike i.e your Scoot still needs to be covered by an insurance policy. So I think you'll have to insure the scoot as well.
When I added the SV to the GSXR insurance policy it added another £40 ish..
What insurance companies have you got quotes from ?
Try calling bike team or you can get them on the web
www.biketeam.co.uk I have a multibike with them for the Daytona and my RXS 100. Just had a quote of £412 FC both bikes. I've been with them a cupole of years and haven't found cheaper.
As I understand it to ride another bike 3rd party on your policy it has to be insured via another party (i.e. have it's own policy) and not be owned by you.
I'm looking at the SV now. I love the way they charge extra because it has an alarm versus not having one... :?
I'm starting with confused.com and going from there. I'll try biketeam too.

You will find your policy contains wording along the lines of "You may also ride a motorcycle not belonging to you and not hired to you under a hire purchase agreement". So, if you own it, and you haven't insured it, you ain't covered.
Have a chat with MCE and Riders Choice. Joe is with MCE and has a multbike policy on the TL that includes the bros. Riders Choice is who I'm with now and they were the cheapest when I was ringing round. HTH.
MCE were ludicrously expensive when I wanted to go multi-bike with the Blade - I found Direct Choice have been cheapest for the past couple of years.
Renewal this year (with only 1 yrs NCB) £160 TPF&T from Black n Blue (SV & Blade).
That's with all mods declared; Alarm, hugger, DB screen, Gilles rearsets, custom paint & exhaust on Blue. OEM fairing lowers, seat cowl & undertray, hugger, DB screen and exhaust on Black.
