View Full Version : What clock do you use on the bike (to tell the time)

I have been looking at getting one.

There seem to be only 2 Options :

1.) Oxford Stick it on Clock ~ £10 delivered

2.) Motrax Little Ben ~20£ delivered

I've been looking at some small digital clocks for around £2. But they are all not water resistant.

They both seem a bit dear to me. Any other options/recommendations ?

Get a cheap watch, strap it round the bars.

Cheap watch seems the ideal solution, and you can strap it round the yoke if you prefer.

Yep, I did that, had a £20 timex that I bought years ago. I still have the watch (but not the bike)...

good idea.

I have about 10 water resistant watches lying around in the loft somewhere.
Just a matter of finding them now

I have a Little Ben on my SV, it was a gift. A weatherproof alternative - buy a £5 Halfords cycle 'computer' and junk the pickup, just use it for the clock. No nightlight on it, but neither does your £20 Little Ben (not luminous either AFAIK)!

Some chav might nick it and I wouldn't be inclined to do anything that would encourage chavs to touch my bike.

(unless you use a watch so embarassing that no chav would touch it)

I like the Little Ben... Nice looking and easy to read. But a cheapo digi watch makes as much sense.

Buy a pointy sv instead

Finally a point the curvey people cant argue :) :)

So does that make the pointy one offically better then?

Cheapest possible waterproof watch. Get analogue cos LCD sometimes dies after a few nights of frost. Sometimes it's cheaper to get a new one than change the battery! No backlight for sure, but does it matter that much?

I have a Rolex Oyster traped to my bars.

Ok...who am i kidding, its an Avia from Argos. Been working for 2 years now :D

I have a Blue version of this (http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/2547073/Trail/C%24cip%3D35755.Jewellery%2Band%2Bwatches%3EC%24ci p%3D35760.Watches%3EC%24cip%3D35762.Men%26%2339%3B s%2Bwatches.htm)

I find the canvas strap better

If your riding time shouldn't be an issue. If your on the bike then everyboby expects to be late as they should know you'll be taking the "alternative" route

And I almost forgot, the oxford clocks don't seem to last if they go through some heavy weather, I've been through a couple of them.

It means the clock on a pointy is better than a curvy, but that's all. That's why I have a pointy clock on my curvy.

Now I have the best model with the ONLY thing that is worth having from the pointy too.

I think something in keeping with the curvy which reflects the 'Retro' style of this 'OLD' unit.....

A Granfather clock should go!

(Mind you I'm sure my pointy's digital clock gains time :? )

(Mind you I'm sure my pointy's digital clock gains time :? )

It's meant to do that. I think it's meant to go up by 1 minute every 60 seconds. It's a clock.

get a felt tip pen and draw a clockface on your instrument panel....now choose a time and draw it in ... voila...guaranteed to be the right time twice a day.

OOH I hadn't noticed that terrible slight on the Ducati reputation.

1 tail light bulb and one fuse thus far mate. Not too bad for a brand thwart with electrical probs is it?

Yes, even my ZX6 has a clock in the instruments, and that's a '98 bike, older even than any curvy.

Filipe...You would not choose a sexy drop dead gorgeous woman, ask her to dress up in her finest with hair and make up beautifully presented......and then take her walking in a downpour(unless you are Fred Astaire of course) therefore the same applies when the owner of one of those Bologna Beauties. :P

Don't need it on the bike (got a pointy) but wear it when playing tennis.

On very special occasions I wear a chavish cap with a big F on it. It indicates,
to those in the know, that I am a biker and I bought my bike from Fowlers
(cap came free with the bike).

When.

Not exactly it that order.
