I never been a fan of the death penalty, i can see your point of view and i'm not having a go in any way but I just find it difficult to jusify.

I would like to see the life sentance actually mean life, and i think this would be more of a deterent than a death penalty. It must destroy your spirt knowing that the only thing that you are going to see for the rest of your life is the walls around you, no tv etc just the prison routine for ever.

Whatever the punishment lets hope they catch these guys before they hurt someone else.

I totally agree that any prison sentance should be nothing but a time of depravation.
Some of the criminals actually live better when they are inside then they do out. Not saying the jails are nice but the conditions that some people live in when they are drug adiicts in a squat for example.
At least inside they get beds and clean sheets and 3 meals a day.

If it was my choice they'd get bread and water, and be let out to excercise for an hour a day. Lets see how many wanna come back anytime soon.

contreversial probably...criminals in prison obviously get fed,but people like me who dont earn a fantastic ammount of money LEGALLY have to send our kids to school and yet we have to pay for their school dinners.
go out,commit a crime,go to prison,get fed and get a dvd player and a tv in your cell

What about people who are in for lesser offences - small time drug dealing, car theft etc. Wouldn't giving these people an education and rehabilitation be better than making them hate the system more, after all after 6 months of bordom arn't they just going to reoffened, its doubfull many of these people were scarred of prison in the first place.

In the long run reformed criminals who have been made to see the error of there ways can be some of the best examples to the young on why crime is not big or clever. We had a convicted armed robber do a talk at our school which had a lasting impression on many of us.

The proper bad boys who are in for life are never going to change so i cant see the point trying to change them, just use them as an example to society.
