Yes when for 364 days of the year most people do nothing but gripe about what "England" is today. Taking one day out to celebrate one's homeland is not perhaps asking too much?

Hope you're all watching Sharpe on ITV and revelling in the once greatness of the British Empire!

I'm proud to be English every day. (even though successive governments have bolloxed the place up beyond repair and about 50% population appear to be ****s).
I think we could find a better patron saint however, you know one that is actually English or at least has visited here at least once ?

Quite. If I recall, the first English Patron Saint was Edward the Confessor. He was an Anglo-Saxon king who prayed a lot and was very pious.

St George was a warrior who fitted the violent times more than a monkish King.
Something to do with the crusades and other stuff as George was of middle east origin.
