Be glad you don't ride in the city. I got 110 before the bike ran dry!

I usually get about 85 miles before my light comes on ( and I always use optimax)

I'm lucky if I make it to 120; 100 is typical.

You can save petrol by riding smoothly, not wearing baggy clothes at speed and not using high revs.

But TBH 140 is good millage for the SV and if you want any more you are going to take most of the fun out of riding.

i do about 150 to 160 till my light comes on

i have don 210 and still had 1L left in the tank

i do 30 miles a day mon to fri easy and prob 150 on a week end depending what goin on ie out on a friday night and if i workin weekend

should not use optimax all the time 1 in every 4 fill ups is ok or now and then

bit like changeing ya oil after every ride or sumin no need

Yep- 160ish on a tank before it flashes, more 'til it stays on. But I suppose that's 'cos I'm a wuss.

I still enjoy my biking though.

On a weekend I've done as little as 85 miles before the light came on but also sometimes I've done 156 miles before light came on. Average for me is 130 miles.

I normally get around the 145 - 155 range the other week had a shock as the light came on on the way to work usually that means i have enough petrol to get home any way filled up the bike went to reset the trip and it was on 170!!! Shocked must have been running on vapors the last couple of miles that was lucky!!!!!!! didn't fancy pushing the thing to the petrol station.

There are some figures on my blog (http://bikersview.blogspot.com/).. as I've been running a few tests.

Its fizzled of at the moment, though I will be doing more as the weather picks up.

I think you'd probably save by not using Optimax... I'm a believer that it does help economy, by my unscientific studies ;) but I don't think it's as much as the price differential.

It's all about how you ride... I can still get 140 from a tank, or I can run it dry in 70. If you avoid flat-out throttle use, keep it smooth, try and keep moving instead of stop-starting, and keep it sort of in the midrange, that'll all help. It'll save you on tyres, chain wear, discs and pads too.

But that's all no fun. If you want economy, buy a Cub 90... There's a guy at my work who owns a Tiger and a Cub 90, the cub cost him £100 but he reckons he saves about 10 times that every year on wear and tear and fuel, and if it brakes, he throws it in the bin and gets another (but then, he also chains it up with an anchor chain, when 5 feet away a Benelli Tornado sits with no locks at all)

I'd be more concerned about chaining the tiger up personally, how do you get a tiger to work anyway.

Poor thing must be well miffed when you try and fill it up with petrol, or does it just eat various passers by. The insurnace must be a nightmare

.............anyway taxi's here

Ride as if you had no brakes, as if you had to rely on engine braking and dragging your feet, do not accelerate past 5000rpm, ride smoothly as if you were riding on ice.

if you do that religiously you might surprise yourself

last fall I did that once, and got 175 miles before my low light came on, normally it coems on at 135-140

also make sure your bike is in proper tune,

Er my light normally comes on at about 170... or is that on the Blade, I can't remember, but I know they're about the same.

So I'm either a smooth riding goddess...

... or a reserved riding cynic. Yeah, that sounds more like it.

Most of my riding is for pleasure anyway, (apart from the 5 mile round trip to work that I would be doing if I was actually there!) so as little of this messing about in town stuff as possible really. :)
