I'm thinking of upgrading the SV and getting a Falco.
Going to look at a few over the weekend, just wondered if anyone had any advice on what to look out for.
I'm looking around the £3000 mark
there's a few i've seen
one has done 7k, 2001, aprilia race exhausts + chip, FASH, looks pretty tidy £2800
the other has 19k 2001, FASH, just serviced, new chain and sprokets, technoflex rear shock, Rearsets, aprilia race cans (doesn't mention chip), new tyres + all original parts, £3100
what sort of servicing should have been done upto 19K, also any advice on when the big services are.
cheers
Mike

Mike,
I had a Falco, and I think "Mariner" on here is selling his....
I'd be surprised if a bike has the RSC cans without the chip, they come together as a kit. Wouldn't worry too much about the milage as the engiines are pretty solid. The 2nd one with the new rear shock sounds like it's been looked after.
Ask about batteries. Falco's tend to eat them for breakfast. There was a similar thread running a couple of weeks ago, do a search and you should be able to find it.

Cheers Jelster
With regards to the RSC cans did they only come in carbon as one of the bikes has stainless steel race cans with red 'aprilia racing' lettering.

In terms of servicing
4500 minor service Circa £180-£220
9000 Majort service circa £350 + possible valve shims (can get pricy)
Depreciation curve = massive
great value bike and Italian !!!!
Usual mods on a "V" , Cans, air box etc althought the first thing I did was junk the std Blue Sachs shock for a white RSV massive improvement.
Jorge at renegade races a falco and has developed an airbox mod, I have not done it as to be honest the std power keeps me more than entertained although the mod apparantly smooths the power delivery, costs about £180
Capable of big milage and very relaible, a few people talk about batery life, I've never had a problem
1 last thing is a number of people have had thier pride and joy fall over!!! the side stand keeps the bike very vertical, you can get a bolt on mod that creats a little axtra lean either from fleabay or renegade circa £25.00
good luck, great bike
To give you some idea.........
I've just sold a Falco - 2003 plate on 2002 model and had done 8500 miles. Remus GP cans, hugger, gel seat, FASH, never dropped and in very good condition. It was due the next service, MOT & tax, which the new owner agreed to do - the price £2750.
Great bikes indeed - I would have kept it, but it was a secondary bike, mainly collecting dust, and I couldn;t afford to have that much money in a bike that I wasn't using.
Good luck with the purchase.

I heard my name and hear I am!
I've got 04 Falco for sale, red/matt black, 4400 miles, just been serviced and fitted with a new battery. I'm looking for around £4k for it. If you want a test ride, pm me. Same if you need more details.
They are pretty reliable, but servicing can be pricey and spares availability is appalling. Rear shocks tend to deteriorate quite quickly, many owners swap out the shock for an RSV unit. Race chips are quite cheap on e-bay, I've seen them listed for £30. I've got a pair of Akropovic carbon oval cans but they are available by negotiation. The cans alone liberate plenty of horses, last year I got 122 bhp on the dyno.
The Falco is a superb bike, I've run it round the TT course and been for a high speed blast across France on it. The problem was me, no control! I wanted to go everywhere at 150mph and it's not good for keeping the licence!
