HOTBODIES UNDERTAIL
2004
SV650s - BLUE
$150.00 (US$$)

Location: Austin, TX

I am selling the Hotbodies Undertail / Fender Eliminator that I briefly installed on my bike.

I am in the process of selling the bike, and the new owner did not want the undertail and wanted me to reinstall the OEM fender. Thus, I would like to sell the perfectly color matched undertail for around $150.00.

I still have all the original packing and installation materials, to include decals, connectors, and license plate mounting brackets. (Notice I did NOT mount the plates as instructed in the factory instructions...I liked a more streamlined look.)

If you are local, I would be more than happy to lend my garage, tools and help with installing the undertail. I also have some additional printed instructions to supplement the instructions that came with the undertail.

Well I mounted my plate in the REAR of the tire well - up against the battery box. [On the first pic above, if you click on the photo it will enlarge the photo so you can see how I mounted it.] You CAN see the plate when behind the bike...BUT its technically not legal (in Texas) since it is partially obscured and you cant see the inspection sticker which is also supposed to be visable- gotta love this freakin state. (NOT)

I did not have any problems with the cops...but then again it was only on the bike a short time... 8)

HOWEVER, to answer your question:
The instructions and materials from HOTBODIES include two L-brackets that allow you to mount the license plate directly to the undertail itself. Just behind the tail light.

Because of the way I have to display the license plate and inspection sticker together...the overall size is rather large...and it would make mounting the plate very close to the wheel... which it can be done..but I really liked "hiding" the plate the way I did. IF I was keeping the bike, I would totally keep the plate mounted the way I had...which is just my personal choice.

Standard? not sure if i know what you mean....but....

remember you are removing the fender...( the fender it extends OUT and OVER the wheel itself).

With the hotbodies undertail the mounting of the plate is just behind the tail light which puts it right above the wheel/tire.

The L-brackets angle the plate out away from the tire and provides clearance for the motorcycle license plate.
