The weather's lovely, the roads are good, and I'm missing my bike (or any bike come to that).
Maybe it's because I don't have any wheels at all now, but there's a big empty hole there.
Some herbert came hooning past me on a lovely K5 with a fruity can today. That was me, that was. Damn, that hurts.

remember several of us have offered our rear seats should you require a blast
its not the same but I'm sure we can make it entertaining :)

:( If I had a rear seat, it'd be all yours.

Thanks guys. I'll definitely aim for a weekend in Scotland over the summer. I've aready worked out how I can fly up in full kit, stick my lid in the overhead locker, and get picked up straight from the airport.
As for Chelmsford.......having spent the first 18 years of my life planning my escape fromthe place, maybe you want to come over this way!
What you need is a comfy chair or hammock out in the garden and a personal stereo.
Oh yeah, and someone to have been out on a nice long blast on their bike with an MP3 player or something set to record.
Sit back in the sun, relax, close you eyes and listen to the ride - if you've a good imagination it'll soon turn into your favourite roads - or even your dream ride out, only in stereo.

Yup i know this feeling too coolgirl. Although my lack of wheels is for something entirely different than yours and the other persons posts, i still feel the same.
Where i live i can hear them on the ringroad, winding up through the gears then braking hard for the next one etc.
Its painful, t'really is. Been on the back of a friends bike, but it just isnt the same. Perhaps we should form a club, ex-bikers club or something?

Yes, but not for the foreseeable future - alas i have only myself to blame for this. In a sense this makes it even worse. A feeling of letting ones-self down.
I get my license back in January 2008, but the insurance costs are going to be ridiculous.
My friend who works in motor insurance underwriting at Norwich Union recons that before i can get a "reasonable" quote, i should give it 5-10 years minimum, perhaps even more.

We all do things we are ashamed of - and Im sure this will be a hard lesson learned :? :)
Please dont take this the wrong way - its nota jibe at you GYKD just letting off a bit of steam really - but my situation makes me feel sick - Ive never even had a point on my licence in 30 YEARS - I get ill and then get punished  by being banned indefinately until Ive been well for a year. When I had a few further episodes last year I kept having to start the countdown again - that really hurts and although Ive been ok for a long while now so Ive stopped counting down just in case - its too painful. If and when I get it back I will let you all know - in fact I'll be shouting it from the rooftops  :)
If its any consolation my view is that inappropriate driving whatever speed it done at kills (not just speeding alone) - what hurts me most when I get "wheeled out" by the OH is seeing total a***holes who just plainly cannot drive being a menace on the road by doing daft things that are dangerous - not usually speeding I have to add - I usually shout out "AND IM BANNED ?????" much to my OH's embarrasment

I dont like going into all the details as its too upsetting but I had some seizures - (but not petit mal type). You have to do a year's "sentence" before you get your licence back - regardless of how they affect you. Sucks big time!

Hope it works out for you :( I need to get my license renewed every 3 years after medical approval, but for the time being it's a formality, luckily... Hate to think that would change.

I'll have you know that I was deliberately not standing up straight as I was in the process of throwing some serious shapes on the dancefloor 8)
One has to fill the gap somehow....

If I'd had to get up in the middle of the night and fly to London, I'd be falling about too :)

You've got a point there - by the time I got to bed I'd been up 22 hours. And that was on top of all those lovely scottish margaritas and 4 hours kip the night before!
