Took me a bit by surprise and I really need a lens that will focus a bit quicker, in all not bad for a hand held shot.....

My old man is mad about photography too, although now he is getting into really macro stuff.

What I wanted to say though was, if you are into birds of prey etc, I was down in the Andes for a while, and I found a fairly easy to get to (ie one or two days walk) to a place that there are loads of Condors. And, you can see them fairly close up.
Honestly, seeing Condors, knocking about their natural environment is amazing. I had a crappy point and click camera out there, but, as I said, it would be easy to carry in a SLR with some tricky bits.
It would be a class holiday, lovely weather, nice walks, and you can take tons of amazing shots out there. Condors arent the only big birds of prey out there, there are tons of them. Some huge guy was investigating my bivvy when I got back from getting water one morning. Not even really that scared of humans...

We went up to the Ciltern Hills today, specifically to try and observe some Kites. Funny thing is, we stoppen in Watlington for a coffee, cam back to the car and this was one of 2 pairs circling overhead. Couldn't belive how close they came to the ground.

I still need a fast focus 500mmm fixed focal length lens though....

beautiful! not you the kite.Thats a nice looking kite...one thing thats bothering me though...do they not have the long plastic tails anymore...and where are the strings thats flying the thing?....GETS COAT :oops:
