View Full Version : First trek down A39
Rode down to Lydmouth (sp?) on A39 today with some mates, really nice road when you go over the moors!! 8)
My eyes have been opened to the fact that there are some really nice roads outside of Wales!! You lot can look out, us welsh will certainly be venturing over the bridge more often.
Is that A39 Lynmouth? did you go over Porlock Hill as well towards Bridgewater?, and incredible road that. Fantastic views as well as a great road. It's been a while sisnce I did that road on a bike, thanks for the reminder. Would make a good rideout on the way to somewhere like Ilfacombe. 8)
Lynmouth that's it!! I'm afraid i didn't plan the ride so haven't got a clue what other road numbers we did. but we defiantly did Porlock hill. 8) oh yes indeed 8)
I rode the A39 twice in the wet. It takes on a whole new character in the rain, hones the 'oh my god im gonna die' reflexes :D
We had a bit of drizzle on the moors on the way back, not really enough to get the floor wet though, just about noticeable on the visor.
I wouldn't like to do some of those hills in the wet!! hairpin bends on a 1 in 4 gradient!

Yep that's Porlock MOUNTAIN ha haaa
next time you go out give us a shout! - weather was quite nice too
Only found out about it the night before myself! Was quite drunk and had to get up early and start on strong coffee, before making up my mind whether to go or not.
At the party i was told they were going up to mid wales then found they'd changed the plans when i got there in the morning. Good ride out though. :D
If i'm sober enough to post i'll let you know next time.
