View Full Version : What was your first/worst bike??
What was your first bike?
Mine was a Suzuki TS185ER,used it off-road,when I was 11.
Worst bike,Kwak KLX250. Absolute Gherkin of a bike!
Pics will be posted soon!
1st bike Thomas ATX50 what a bag of **** so it counts as my worst bike :!:
:? You know,I don't even know what that would look like?!
Did you have to pedal it?
It was a copy of the DT50 off road but no good at it!!!!

worst bike was one of my zzr600's it never ran right and cost me a fortune! (ive owned 2 of these and the second one was great.)
First and worst... yamaha dt50...
what a sh*tbag... broke down so much I hardly got to ride it before I got a derbi senda... which broke down loads again...

First bike.. SV650S... now on my Kwak... does that make the worst bike the SV?? *runs*
Kawasaki GPZ305 :(
I believe listed as one of the ten worst bikes on the planet
http://www.artran.co.uk/images/GPz305-1.jpg
Didn't look as nice as this one.
First & Worst: CG125 with the dodgiest kill switch set up on it. Would cut out in traffic if I wasnt careful.
Rode it til it died though. But tbh despite the dodgy kill switch and its tendency to switch the engine off at the most inopportune moments, I learnt loads and had a lot of fun on it. So its probably unfair to say its worst bike in that respect.
:D Did my test on a CG125! Thought it was quite friendly!?
first bike a cb250t
worst bike a vs700 but only because the battery packed up altogether

honda ss50 and yes it did have fully functional pedals
used em twice :P
worst bike was the 250 superdream heavy and sluggish . so muggins here bought the 400 much the same.
best alround bike cb900f1 with lots of engine tuning and suspension mods I wish i still had it was heavy but boy was it quick in those days.
super fun bike and rd400 yamaha with a full race topend and pipes or the standard topend and pipes . i could choose which to fit on a rainy night and run out the next fine day. Lasted quite well until a blockage in the oil pump caused a major sieze at about 100 mph. YOU DO NOT WANT TO GO THERE
 NASTY bet that was a hairy moment!

Ok, let me just emphasize:
CG125 with the dodgiest kill switch set up on it.
But tbh despite the dodgy kill switch and its tendency to switch the engine off at the most inopportune moments
Just to differentiate why I put that there and why you probably wouldnt think yours was anything but friendly. :)
 Ah Lynw,
I didn't own it,just used it to do my course/test on!
I can imagine why you feel that way though!
Bet it was fun!!!

The words I used to describe it are unprintable. I got one after my CBT because I liked the one Id used. Ho hum. Live and learn.

First bike was a BSA bantam, ( ex post office ), first bike on the road a Yamaha FS1E.
My worst bike.. well the SV is the most uncomforable thing I've ever owned, but the worst has got to be a Honda RS250, closely followed by a Harley Davidson trail bike.
GS500 which i sold to buy the SV
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/robchester/smallerpic.jpg
Not a bad first bike but the SV is much much better

It certainly would get a nod from me.

Moto Guzzi 1979 V50, but a bit of a dinosaur - lots of vibes, clunky gear changes and aching clutch hand oh and took half a mile to actually stop when brakes were applied but loved that bike - so much character - cant believe I gave it up for a Bandit :?

First was a BSA Bantam like this.....came in a whole load of pieces and was known as the "Bantam in a Basket".
http://upload3.postimage.org/213970/1953_BANTAM_0.jpg (http://upload3.postimage.org/213970/photo_hosting.html)
It was followed by a Binetta Sports moped (which was loathsome but practical in that it didn't break down), various C11/C12/C15 BSAs and a Triumph Tigress 250cc scooter which was indecently quick.
Worst thing I ever owned was an SWM trials bike with the kick-start shaft concentric with the gear-shift shaft. It meant it was possible to kick start it and smack it into first gear simultaneously, resulting in almost vertical take-off. During my time of ownership, when it did this, I scored two pedestrians, two pushchairs and the side of a passing bus. Whoever bought it from me...sorry!

A Yam Virago XV125. Not a bad bike at all, when you get past the fact that this one in particular was a disaster. Entirely my own fault, I made the mistake of trusting Carrick Yamaha in Edinburgh. But we had some good times, even so, and it taught me a lot about fixing and maintaining bikes, and not trusting Carrick Yamaha. Plus, despite being a cruiser, it was pretty light and had all the weight down low, so it cornered like it was on rails, you could do slow maneuvres like it was a trials bike. Brilliant fun sometimes, my mate on his Vespa PX125 grounding the monocoque and me scraping the exhaust all over the place, racing each other (go on... 51mph... 52....)...
Then, I got one of those no-fun SV650s that never ever breaks down, except when it's entirely my fault. When I heard it had been written off, I almost cried- despite the fact that for the last 6 months I had it, I was secretly hoping someone would steal it.
Have had a part ownership of a Honda Benley and Wet Dream back in the day. Both absolute heaps bought and sold for a pittance. Never more than thrashed in fields, used to learn power-mud-slides.
My own first proper on the road bike was an NS125R in white, the baby-viffer!
Three H*nda's is enough for any man to see the light. Next up was the SV. 8)
First bike - 1/3 ownership of a Yamaha step through thing (C50 copy) field bike.
First road bike - Honda C50
Worst bike - Honda C70. The plug hole was threaded and would periodically spit the plug out with an almighty bang !.
WOW...at first glance that GS500 looks sweet.
It certainly would get a nod from me.
Nice motah robchester.
Cheers Bud,
was sold locally by a dealer - surprised i havent seen it because its quite unique having the full fairing at that age. (1992 - J) plus i removed a fair amount of pink decal  from the rear.
Smart bike for its age

Worst bike before getting licence - Maico 440 Motocrosser. Ex works bike I got cheap when I was 13. Too much power too quickly.  Not the sort of thing you want to try your hand at racing on. Sold it the following year for a cr480 Honda. Just as powerful but more manageable. 8)
First bike was a Suzuki TS125 field bike. Nuff said
Worst bike since getting licence - kwacker KL650 Tengai. Too big, too heavy and a bitch to start in the wet.

... although to be fair it was knackered when I bought it and I on my limited teenage budget I basically just got it roadworthy (and then thrashed it to death  )
first bike was TZR125... and that would have to be the worst one as well

First bike---BSA Bantam
Worst bike----Honda CB 175. For a newish low mileage bike it was unreliable, doing an alternator and a gear selecter fork witin two months and two thousand miles.

My first bike was an NSR125 super sprint, great fun for a 125 and pretty quick when it was de-restricted, worst bike was my second bike which was a CBF600 naked, wasn't unreliable or anything just very very heavy and very very dull to ride!!! regretted buying it as I could have had a SV but got a good deal on it, that got stolen so I bought my SV which I still love!!! :D
only got one bike :( if u can call it that :( lols anyway I dont care I love her!

1st bike..honda mbx 80 had it about a week took it back to the shop and px for a cb100n due to the fact a break caliper seal failed and it was gonna take 3 weeks to get repaired.....not the sort of thing you wanna wait for when your excited about just getting started on a bike
worst bike...suzuki gsx600f (the old tea pot) had a lovely engine but handling that would make a top hollywood stuntman quake in his boots

My 1st "official" bike was an MBX80, which I thought was great. It could keep up with many 125's until about 65  (It topped out at an indicated 80!) Mind you I did tweak it heavily and ran it with a Gianelli power pipe. How overkill were two discs on the front of a bantam weight bike ??
Worst bike? I still own it  My XS750, with it's chocolate gearbox. Just can't afford to get rid of it

Mine were perfect to the point of the bike stopping dead at some traffic lights in the wet and I continued on, a la skater, across the middle. I wonder if that would have set off modern day traffic light cameras

First bike, Gilera Runner Purejet. Wasn't bad, til it started blowing and a new exhaust was £300, and since it was fuel injected no other exhaust was right for it, but a dodgy shop sold me a normal runner exhaust which ****ed it up even more :( . That and my RS125 are close for my worst bike, but I think the runner clinches it because at least when the aprilia was running it made me smile.
my first bike! unresricted 117mph!
LOL get real mate, no way will a mito do 117 unless you have very dodgy speedo.

I'm sorry, I thought you were going to post a pic of a bike? :P
lols well its got two wheels but between that and a real bike, that is where the resemblances stop   :( [-(
First bike was a copy of a CG 125 made in china this is also the worst bike I've riden.
Pete's first bike was a Puch Maxi (yes, he's THAT old)
His worst? Hmm..............he'd probably say his Triumph Sprint RS, as he had nothing but problems with it from day one.
I'd say his H*rl*y Sportster.................for obvious reasons :D
:) Right here are the pics of the bikes! Also included are the ones of my first 'road bike',Yam RD50.
The TS used to be my dads,it got nicked, first pic is how it was, second how it came back, third how it ended up!
The RD I bought for £100,then done it up before doing my CBT.Then nearly died on!
Then the worst bike! KLX 250,Good off road, bad at everything else! That got nicked too!

Worst bike SV650S K3 silver? Now if it was black...God, in my day a GS500 was sheer luxury compared to the death traps we put up with...youth of today, eh?
Ride a knackered 2 stroke and then a SV will seem like a Saturn V.

My first and worst had to be my old RM125. But then again that was good.
Kawasaki KE175 trail when i was 13,told my dad i could ride a bike with gears  snapped bars 10 mins later, impressive wheely though  had its carb inside eng casings but they kept getting crap in them from rusty tank!nightmare.
Carb inside Engine casing!!! Eh?
I've never seen that!

First bike owned was half ownership in a non running Billy Bantam D175. With the couple of spanners and a screwdriver that me and my race team mate had we never did get her going. Sold for a nice little profit, not bad for two geeky 13 year olds though!
Didn't own but borrowed off my pal John his TS100 Trial bike when I was a tender 15 years of age, when he was on dates with Karen I rode his bike round the roads whilst he rode.....
Very embarasing one day when I pulled up to chat to them when they were out for a walk and I wheelied the little f*cker! Right over the top she went! Literally feet away from John who took it all in very good sport! :?
My dream first legal bike was a brand spanking 3 cylinder 2 stroke triple 250 Kawasaki! I loved that bike but when you got blasting on it the plumes of smoke from the exhaust were ridiculous! :P
Of all the bikes I owned the only one I could honestly say I did not like was my V Max. Gorgeous looking, even now. Absolutely amazing straight line stonk from a full powered version. Only kept it for about 2 months despite it being brand new, it was the only bike that ever scared me in the bends as my style was not suited to the bike at all.
Bought my ZX6 NInja after that and it was like night and day.Superb bike.
Christ! I've ridden one of those bugg*rs!!
They DO NOT fill you with confidence when you go into a bend,it tries to steer for you pulling you towards the ground
Have to say though,FAST in a straight line!!

Carb inside Engine casing!!! Eh?
I've never seen that!
Rotary disc valve - carb into crankcase. Does away with transfer ports....quite efficient (for a stroker).....engine could be made to run backwards quite satisfactorily if you had the knack (which, unintentionally, I had!!).

My mates Ossa has a habit of doing that :D
I still kinda own my first/worst bike/scooter/moped/hairdrier....
In for repair and then being put on the market!

my first road bike is my bandit, i cant really say its my worst tho.
i did have a TS80 trials bike, which my mate managed to get run over on, and a DT50 which had a set of mole grips for a gear leaver and no exhaust from the expansion tank back, so i stuck a bit of white plactic tubing there instead (it had a magnex sticker on it!!)
but am thinking of getting an SV now, a curvey one!!

I have had three,
1st bike: GPz500S which I killed

3rd bike: My K3 SV still alive and kicking.

CB125T - bought with engine in bits, I think at the time it was one of the highest revving bikes on the road at 13k (IIRC).
Fixing the engine was a doddle...

My first and only bike so far is my Derbi Senda R 50.
It's got a brilliant high revving engine in it - and for a 50 it doesn't half shift!
My mate used to have an RS50 which had a 1mph higher top speed but i'd always get there before him!
I'll be getting a spanker of an SV at the end of this month :!:
