Faired or Naked?

I've got a faired SK1, but, in retrospect I actually wish I bought the black nakid one instead.

I prefer it's upright position. All my other bikes had no fairings, bar the occasional bikini fairing.

faired - always - my 650s is an absolute delight to ride in any weather

have two nakeds at the mo but defo need to fit screens as anything over 50mph and it starts to get a wee bit brutal, managed 110mph on the new bike and jeeez,
was it scary or what, was holding on for dear life.

even on the wee yam tw, anything above 50 (at a push like :shock: ) its brutal as well as freezin

I don't mind the wind blast at all, if I need to stop on a long ride (motorways etc) its normally cos I've got a square **** :lol:

With the amount of motorway riding and speed I do, theres no way on earth Id torture myself with a naked bike. :twisted:

Faired on all my bikes except the CG. Wont ever get an unfaired one - rode an ER5 as courtesy bike and that was bad going down the dual carriageway at 70ish. Enough to convince me fairing is the only way for me. :D

Well, mines a Faired Curvy...

After my "off" i've had to take the lowers off.

Noticeable difference?????? None, bar ONE point.....

Puddles, damn puddles.... Go through one and now my feet get covered in water. When the lowers are on my feet don't get soaked......

Oh, and it keeps my engine cleaner.....

tbh, i preferred the curvy naked and its only when i got a fiared one that my opinion changed. I don't mind riding it naked at the moment though.

Very much depends on your specific circumstances, the naked is way better in town and at low speeds than the faired will ever be, and in the twisties the higher postion gives better forward view and the wider bars aid easier steering. The reverse might well be true for any given specific use.

FWIW I've owned both faired and naked SVs and other bikes with proper fairings, the SV fairing really isn't much use, it's just a styling addition, the biggest difference is the seating postion being different due to the handlebars/clip ons. If you want a mile muncher with protection there are better bikes than an SV.

I would've gone for a faired one if it wasn't so damn ugly on the curvy version. Or if I had more long distance journeys.

Now the pointy fairing, thats a different matter entirely. Hmm... maybe I could get one for my lovely naked curvy and have the best of both worlds! Speaking of which, who was it that posted the picture of the SV that had this mod? Would it be too sacreligious to post it again? :)

I've just joined this forum, and couldn't resist answering this poll.

I recently purchased a naked SV650 due to Suzuki's 0% finance scheme. The reasons for choosing a naked one were that the faired one looks horribly ugly (in my opinion) and has a very cramped riding position (I am tall). I would much rather have had a 1000, but there's no longer a naked version available so it had to be the 650.

Upright, big wide bars, head in clean air...lovely.

And you feel the speed. 80 or 90 FEELS 80 or 90. Really keeps the speed down on motorways etc, then no difference to a faired in the twisties and back roads.
