maybe you could turn one upside down and pot flowers in it. Then hang it by the strap ouside your door like a hanging plant thinggy.

Not planning to buy one. But Its made me wise up to buying helmets on ebay. Just didn't think there are fake copies out there.

Bear in mind that they'll probably be copies of the asian Shoei helmet sizes and shell shape - which is completely different to the ones made for the european market.

They come out a much smaller fit than the ones you can buy here. If you're a medium in euro sizes, you may find that you need to go two sizes bigger or more if you by an asian lid. Same applies to buying imported lids on ebay.

I just got my X-Spirit.

It feels a bit dodgy as its a lot lighter than my budget lids and you can't imagine it offering as much protection.

Weight has nothing to do with protection. In fact less weight can give better protection as it reduces strain on your neck whilst riding or in an accident.

With the new carbon composites used to make helmets the weight have reduced significantly.

The X Spirit is one of the lightest lids on the market. That's one of it's major selling points so if you bought one you seem to have missed the main advantage. :!:

No I think you all mistook what I was saying! I am very happy with it and know it is safe but I am just saying it doesn't feel like it would be safe when you hold it - you just need to have faith I guess!

If you handed it to a layman along with my old Nitro helmet and said one of these cost £300 and the other £50 then they would all bet the Nitro was the £300 job!

Not if they knew what they were looking at!. How can you compare the quality of an X-spirit to a Nitro!

Soon notice the difference when you try them on.
I was looking at buying a Shoei XR1000,and was very impressed by it.A true quality lid until I just thought I'd try the X Spirit.A noticeable step up when tried back to back and a bargain at £300.

not so long ago i remember a test in some bike magazine, probably BIKE or RIDE, whatever, but they tested all the characteristics of about 100 motorbike lids. On review the Shoei Raid came out on top with the XR1000 second, for like safety, comfort, weight, wind resistance, etc, etc.

How long has the model X spirit been out, and why is it classed as better, cos at the time i bought my xr1000 i seem to recall it was the lightest available. Not to start an argument but just wondering my next choice of lid as mines been in 3 accidents, scratched to crap, and looks tatty (no it has not been dropped!!), and wondering the benefits of a X-spirit as Shoei are the only brand available to me.

What do people classify as the best helmet on the market? for like comfort, etc. The shoeis are great for people with big heads like me!

Funny you should say that they are good for people with big heads as they are actually very small helmets for the size.

My medium would be called a small if it was another brand. I guess you just have to buy the size up from what you normally get. The X-Spirit is actually worse than the other Shoei's I tried on for being small.

I tried on the other Shoei's and it wasn't immediately obvious how they differed from the X-Spirit but the X-Spirit came with the breath deflector and chin curtain so I went for that. The visor system with that insert that connects via the pins is brilliant. Not sure if you get that insert and everything with the other Shoei models or whether its an optional extra?
