THis is doing my HEAD in.

After being in my house for 18 months now and not making my basic room into a true bedroom, ive decided to tackle it.

PRoblem is im not creative, cant stand decorating, and have NO idea about interior design.

MY room is of decent size, but due to the radiator, window and power socket location, together with an inbuilt wardrobe, the possibilities are fairly limited.

I have a bed, desk, sofa and TV/DVD/VCR and stand to accommodate.

Ive spent ALL Day looking at various differnet ways and its now driving me up the F'in wall!

   ARRRGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its now so late, im shattered, but my head is spinning and my room looks like ive just moved in again! God DAmned!!!!

ok first of all, have u thought about gettin one of those stands that hang off ur wall up high, for ur tv, dvd etc, this will give u more space at normal level.
In order to lessen the feel of clutter, keep paint or wall paper simple, as in - no loud colours or messy patterns. Whether we're talking double or single bed here  , u still don't want it looking too girly! so no frilly cushions, etc but do put up a just a few pics of important things to u, I tend to opt for motorbikes!, this will make the room feel personal and special. Think about the setup of light in ur room...is there enough? is it in the right places?
and finally...

CHILL OUT!!!!

Still trying to understand why anyone cares about this :?

Hey Lee, if you dont - dont post. That simple remember.

I wanted some inspiration, it was posted late at night after a day battling with it - sure, its just a rambling on and has no real point to it. But, after all, this is IB and i do recall a certain someone posting something about a music vid a few weeks ago. Again, no real point to it. But hey... :?

 :P

I slung the TV in one corner, the bed in another, demolished some shelves to make space for a PC, and threw everything else on the floor. Perfect.

Quite agree. This is decorating advice rather than idle banter.

Try an appropriate board.

I do apologise. I guess everything could be catagorised on this forum couldnt it. In fact - seeing as it is first and formost a bike forum - i propse that anything which doesnt relate directly to a motorcycle be banned from the .org.

Hows that.

Politics - nope, get them off here.
Cars - Definately not.
Smarties - you gotta be kidding - im sure theres a chocolate forum someplace.

See my point?!?!?!?

Have you had any helpful advice on choosing a colour schema or decorating in general? No? See mine?

If you wanted appropriate advice you'd go get it. You post here for attention.

Actually mate i dont see your point.

I havent asked for colour advice, or what curtains to get - im not painting and decorating like that.

The best advice i got was from our very own Qwiff Richard with his idea on graph paper and to-scale drawings etc.

Thats the sort of tips im after, not if magnolia goes well with purple..

It depends on your floor covering and method of construction, but it's easy enough to add extra mains sockets where you need them. You're talking about bedroom, so I'm guessing that you're upstairs with floorboards. If you've got 6'x4' chipboard sheets, it's more difficult, but still doable. Likewise, fitted carpet can be lifted, but not as easliy as loose. If you're going to change the carpet anyway, then it doesn't matter.

If the walls are brick/block, then chop the wall boxes into the plaster/block, and run a channel down behind the skirting. use some cardboard to make a U channel to run the cables in and then poly filler over the top, paint or paper to taste.

If the walls are hollow stud/plasterboard, then chop holes for dry lining boxes with a stanley knife (use several shallow cuts, don't try to do it in one cut, you'll shatter the plasterboard). Then drill through the floor to get the cables through.

Good Luck.
