My thoughts exactly! :o
Was disappointed not to see Darren Bent in above some others....
Walcott?? He hasn't even played high club level footie let alone international level. I'm a bit biased towards Spurs players so I'm surprised King has been left out along with Defoe. Campbell has been making a lot of defensive mistakes even before he was injured. Anton Ferdinand is better than him. We need more and proven strikers since our top 2 are not fully fit. Shaun Wright-Phillips should have been picked ahead of Lennon and Hargreaves. It might be a stroke of genius or lunacy to pick two uncapped teenagers. Only time will tell.

Still don't get what Sven sees in Owen Hargreaves.
Glad Lennon got in. Still think taking Rooney is stupid, but then I'm not paid the money to make the cutting edge desicions.

Indeed
Why is he taking Sol Campbell :?:
Good to see Michael Carrick & Stewart Downing in the squad :!: Andy Johnson should have been given the nod above Theo Walcott too :!: I bet Jermain Defoe is wishing Rooney doesn't make it - Taking him is damn silly IMHO, like taking Beckham to the last World Cup injured was
I would have gone for Bent over Johnson i think but would take the pair of them anyway and leave out Rooney and probably Crouch. Hargreaves must be doing Sven some favours because i fail to see what his qualities are. Jenas shouldnt be in ahead of Reo Coker and Campbell looked garbage for Arsenal the other day. Lets hope he plays better against Barca cos he looks well off the pace.
Glad Lennon got called up ahead of SWP - he has looked sharp this season.

Reo Coker isn't even the best English midfielder at his club either...
sven has picked a 17 year old who hasn't even played in the
premiership
so in attack we have rooney - oh no he won't be fit 'till the final -
if we get there!!!
owen - he'll limp off after one game
crouch - oh lord help us
walcott - shouldn't he be at home revising for something
what's wrong with defoe? and or bent? (the premierships top english
striker-18 goals)
and downing ? mcclarens middlesbrough connection coming in to play
Asked how he came to the decision to omit the likes of Defoe and Bent
in favour of Walcott, Eriksson confessed: "Probably not too logically.
"Sometimes you do it on feelings as well and I am excited about Theo
Walcott."
Pah!
I have never seen this Theo Walcott play, lets hope he is something
extra special.
Still think we are gona win ( but then i alwas do )

But he has, on several occaisons apparantly....
Still, even thpogh I am a Gooner, I'm surprised.
Sol Campbell... He's got more experience that anybody else who could have taken that spot. "Anton Ferdinand better ?" We are talking about the sibling of the other Fedinand that "thinks" he Bobby More aren't we ?? In which case don't be so silly....
I'm surprised that Ledley King didn't get in, deffo would have taken him over Hargreaves, but maybe Erikson wants to make sure he has back up for the left side.

I would have gone for Bent over Johnson...
Something you want to tell us?
Teo shouldn't go Johnson should take his place, Cambell is now pants!! not hard really to find a better defender who can take the presure and not disapear for months after running away crying! and about time we used somebody on the left who is left footed like Downing is he now needs to bottle to actually use him!!!! oh and John Terry should be captain!
and if McClaren had that much influence Downing would have actually started an England match. Everybody moans about us not having a naturally left sided midfielder and one comes along and some people still winge. He had more assists than anyone last season! he was statisticly better than Giggs. :D
So heres one for you. Svens team go to the world cup and biing it back home. Why not give some young talent a chance huh? Maybe its what england need, because lets face it, they havent done it for 40 years have they?
Free your minds...all of you.
It will be
We lost...see, said that he shouldnt have picked Walcott...
We won...what a great choice it was, that walcott is a herol
Hence why football is such a crap sport, its full of men who think they know better, and are more fickle than women.

Please no!!! We're sick of watching England 'win' the world cup every four years, everytime they tell us it'll be just like 66... its one of the sweeps we have up here, how far into the first game will the commentator mention 66...
The press are nearly as bad as Celtic fans, its amazing how many of them were actually there when the lifted the European cup... The stadium must have held about 500,000... Half of them that remember it so vividly weren't even born...
Like they said on sky sports this morning our only fully fit forwards are Crouch and Walcot, my first thoughts are simply we're DOOMED.
try this....

i'm a saints fan, so maybe biased, but trust me he's good. he's good enough, his pace is awesome, ball at his feet or chasing.
he'll be ok, if given the chance.
you heard it here first (ish)
Sven is leaving after the World Cup.
Sven is Swedish.
Sweden are in our qualifying group.
Just thought I'd throw a conspiracy theory into the pot.................I know you love 'em :D

Its all very well having experience. A bit of youth in the team will hopefully spur the team and keep up them on their toes.

Why is James in the squad, I watched him drop the ball again on Sunday. As a keeper he is crap, OK I know there are not that many English keepers in the premiership, but this one has consistently proven himself to be unreliable.

he is 100% a liability. just pray/prey that robbo stays fit
This Walcott geezer looks alright to me, least he's talented enough to be able to use both his feet to shoot, unlike some of the other wasters that make their way into the England squad.
I'd rather he pick someone like this young lad than Crouch, what a clumsy get he is! Surprised Heskey didn't make his way back into the squad!!!
And why O why are we taking Rio Ferdinand????????? He been frikkin hopeless this season. It's a strange squad selection!

I'll support you on that one..... He's an arrogant p..ck who likes to think he can play football...
Remember what Rodney Marsh once said "All 'keepers are mad, and defenders are stupid" Ferdinand definately falls into the later group !
.
Yeah I agree with that Rio is a weak link in any defence! also I'm very happy Heskey is not going what a waste of space he is!! officially Englands worst ever striker! I'd rather play Rooney on Crutches than that muppet! :)

So here's one for you. Sven's team go to the World Cup and bring it back home.
Viney, mate, if England win the World Cup, then it won't have been Sven's team at all.....
The press Release will come out from 10 Downing Street in nano-seconds and TONY will have been the one responsible for picking it!
Only if England lose will it have been Sven's Team!
(The only good thing is that Gordon Brown will never be able to claim he picked a World Cup winning team.....)
What annoys me is the fact that they have dismissed Hargreaves totally. THis is the same player who has been the stalwart holding midfield player for the german champions. Can slot into any role in the midfield and IMHO should be taken.
As for Theo, the lad has been picked for the team, and yet the press seem fit to try and destroy him before hes even kicked a ball for england. Rooney had only played half a season when he was first picked for England.
I see a lot calling for Darren Bent. He reminds me very much of Fowler. What I mean by this is that he is a great premiership player but the step up to international level is one he is not capable of making. When he came on as sub for england he didnt seem capable of the subtle changes to the way you play, if international class defenders snuff your normal game out. (fowler was the same when he played)
Yes its a strange squad but its what we have got to live with now and I for one will be cheering them all the way.

Rog, firstly Hargeaves is in there, but I have no idea why. He is the one pick I will never understand. And ok give Walcott a chance, but at the biggest tourney in the world in football? Bit of a risk. Surely you leave it until after the world cup and try him in friendlies first?
As for Rooney the half a season he played he was Everton, not just part of it but he made that team. I think he won his place in the England team, unlike Walcott who seems to have got his place on the fact that he was bloody expensive and Arsen Winger, well, Winged!
I think it is a very strange team, but I will support them all the way. Good luck England
Arsen Wenger winging? thats unheard off isn't it? :smt119

Ah England and it 60 million experts on international team selection! It never changes. Look those are the boys that are selected. Put your own selection pin away and get right behind them FFS. Just like every other country does! :?
my oinion of sven has stooped even lower....is he trying to make us have our worst world cup ever....get rid and now!

With just weeks to go before the start of the world cup, which Sven over saw our qualification for...your suggestion has got to be the DUMBEST thing I have read for a long time,(well if you disregard the majority of posts by razor that is)
Did you actually think about the implications of such an action before you wrote it by any chance? :?

I hate to say it, but that's very similar to Ian Wright. Fantastic striker at a national level but never really grasped the opportunity for his Country. You could argue that it was because he was always a sub etc, but I see where Rog is going with this and he has a point.
Hargreaves has never really lit the game up, but then I can't remember him having a bad game either, so maybe a "stable" choice. Whoever goes (and don't forget this squad can still change) we should, as Peter says, get behind them and encourage them all the way.
