Had my remus high level fitted for about a week now and the heel on my boot touches the pipework occasionally causing it to melt and leave a black mess on my shiny exhaust.

I have seen some pictures of high levels with heatshields to prevent this in particular this pic here

(picture pinched from user e.d. on here any help from you appreciated)

Question is should i have been supplied a heatshield like this or is it a home made job and if it is how do you make it?

Thanks

Ian

Mine did this to my Sidi Blackrain's too  The bit that melts your boot is the heat shield

Scotchbrite & Autosol gets it off ;)

Banditmania sell one... It's for a B12 midpipe so it's a bit big, but it works pretty well despite just being a steel plate with no insulation... You should be able to see it on my bike in teh respray thread I've posted up. Probably the simplest thing I've added to the bike, but it's great.

When e.d. bought her can it came with that link pipe which already had the heatshield on it.

I always bang my boot on the pipe when I ride her bike. Its the main reason I wouldnt put a high level can on any of my bikes.

That heat shield was on the link pipe when i got it, (it's a Remus link pipe not a bandit mania or other replacement one).

I always have the back of my boot on the pipe and have never had either my Sidi or my A* boots melt. TBH i don't think it even gets that hot, i know the can itself is never more than warm to touch even after a few hundred miles.

Hmmm I just got my high level pipe last week from remus and it didnt come supplied with the heatshield :(

I had a normal exit remus gp revolution but bought the high level pipe seperatly from my dealers who ordered it from remus and it came in a remus bag so is defo genuine.

will have to speek to the dealers and see whats happened and where my heatshield is.

thanks for the replies.
