Plenty of torque there! Love the rim mounted brakes too. Sawn off looks.

The reliabilty issues is a downer on these things. Can't see them ever selling in huge numbers.

Proper V-twin though.

The reflectors? - US bikes have to have reflectors on the fork legs, as in the pics, but maybe all Buell's have them?

kwak zzr
12-05-06, 05:42 PM
again dunno  what did impress me was the quality of the buell, someone on this site said before that it looked cheaply built but it does have- braided lines, stainless wheel valves, optimate connection, usd forks, quality suspension and good tyres. it impressed me  the wheels are my fave.

When Erik Buell maanges to make an XB9 with a gearbox that works, and a clutch that doesn't feel like a medieval torture device, I think I'll buy one that very day...

You may want to testride a new 06 model, both have been improved apparently :)

I was seriously considering a Buell again the other day after i'd sworn not to cos of the reliability issues but looking at that pic Iansv posted with shiny frame.... O M G  here we go again :D

Anyone know if the talk is true or not? I think it's the perfect bike for me except that I don't want to be stripping it down after every ride trying to fix it.

btw, I saw one the other day in Birkenhell and the sound is just WOW!!

i think there quite reliable now apart from the odd belt brakage every now and again.

If anyone is interested, my mate is selling his 04 plate R model for £5000. He put it on fleabay last year and it reached £5100 but he was holding out for more. Said he'd take £5k now as he has too many bikes in his garage (Buell, Hayabusa, R1 streetfighter, KX400, 2 x TY250 trails, Triumph Trophy  ) He's abroad at the moment but if anyone wants any more details, send me a PM.

Okay I went to Chester Harley Davidson today to look at the Buells. Really nice and may be going back for a test ride soon.

Checked for an quote on an XB12S with the Harley Insurance Services. . .

Would you beleive that without a garage they wanted over £5000 a year, yes Five Thousand pounds! for insurance, yeah right  The guy on the phone told me to sit down before he told me the price

But with a garage it's a miserley £1524, "oh that's not too bad"

kwak zzr
17-05-06, 03:39 PM
they are a high group insurance considering the performance your getting i mean there no gsxr1000 are they.

my dad has an xb9r, he loves it it's the only bike he has ever owned where he has never wanted something better, had it 3 years now and still doesnt consider getting another bike although i think he may be tempted to swap it for the moto guzzi cassaro(sp) when that comes out, and being pillion on it is the most unconfortable thing in the world i went the tt on the back and could only do 40 miles or so and id have cramp :(. but i have my sv now :D :D

The guy on the phone told me to sit down before he told me the price

When I phoned up Bikesure last year to get a quote on the SV, the rep asked what I'd been offred elsehwere. Told him £600 from Carole Nash, and he just said "Right, in that case I'm not telling you what ours would be." "Eh?" "Just take it from me, we're not exactly competitive". :)

Yarodia
18-05-06, 06:56 AM
Yeah it's group 15 according to the guy in the shop so I guessed it would be a lot more than what i'm paying on the SV. Did two online quotes and played around with the details a bit and got the prices down to 700 ish but I know I can get better than that if I play around.

What's the deal with new bikes and insurance though, does it have to be fully comp on a new bike? or does vary between companies?
The guy at Harley insurance said it had to be fully comp on a machine worth over £5k but I don't know if that was just their policy.

kwak zzr

i always have tpf+t, dont know if it makes any diff it the bike i on finance tho?

Yarodia
19-05-06, 02:40 PM
Hoping it wont be bought on finance. Would probably get a loan for it if I had to go that route so in effect I would have paid in cash at the shop and i'd get a better APR.
I have never had Fully Comp insurance either but then again i've never had a new car or bike before :) Doubt I could afford to insure it if I had to get fully comp, that's why I was wondering

kwak zzr
19-05-06, 03:46 PM
saying that my cousins blandit is on the never never and he has tpf+t insurance? but the bike was only 3700 and he only borrow'd 2000.
