From the series, I remember it having an under/over light fitted (from memory...)

Maybe its been down the road?

Albeit heavily modded, with some nice kit on it, it is still an old SV... He'd be lucky to get circa £3,000/£3,200 for it IMHO :!:

Whoever buys it will either be made of money, or just damn stupid (or both,) at that price IMHO :!:

I remember watching this episode and the only thing I liked was the paint job, it was a really smart paint job apart from that not much else.

What I wanna know is why hes selling it...if its such a good bike and a one off why is he getting rid of it. I think we should contact the tv show and tell them hes selling it :D

Razor

Well for him it was a once in a lifetime moment, for the rest of us just 30 minutes.
I'm watching the auction coz I'd be amazed if anybody paid that money for it.
Not when there's unique framed streetfighters going for less cash, with far more one off and special bits.

He's hoping. You could almost get a Spondon framed fighter with a TL lump for that much! :laughat:

It's also not exactly a brand new "show bike", is it? 16K miles isn't long in the tooth, but it's not going to be a minter, is it.

It's got the makings of a good machine in it... If anyone wants to buy it for me, I'll show you what I mean ;) But it does depend what sort of liberties they took with the frame, and how well built the other bits are. Lose the hideous squashed insect fairing and get a standard round one on there (or Bates, if you must) and it's a different machine already. Get the black hoops on, what are those Tomahawks supposed to be? And spray over "street fighter", because that really is feeble beyond belief...

The bike had two small rectangular lights put on it in the show so he has changed the lights and I don't remeber it saying Street Fighter on the tail. No way I would pay that though, the fact is people who want custom bikes like that would rather build their own imo. For that money you could get a decent SV and do a load of mods yourself.

haggis
15-05-06, 02:05 PM
Ok, lets add up the parts.
Mint curvy SV, maybe just worth £2.5K with 16,000M on it.
Set of tyres are more like £160, I think they're 014's. I could be wrong.
K5 GSXR front end, £800ish.
GSXR tail, £250
One off exhaust, probably cost £500 but I could get the same done locally for much less.
Pro paintjob, £400 max. There's not a lot to paint!
Swingarm mod. Dunno, maybe £200?
Powdercoating frame, swinger and wheels etc. £250.
Braided hoses, £40.
DVD of something I taped off the telly anyway, 1p.

Total is £5100.01, but you're never going to get anywhere near what it costs to build any custom machine as it's done to your taste, not the buyers. £4k absolute tops.

Cloggsy
15-05-06, 03:54 PM
£4k absolute tops.

I wouldn't pay that, no bike is worth the sum total of its parts - if he wants to make real money, he should unbolt it all & sell it separately...

I'd say more like £3,000 tops (£3,200 at a push :!:)

Hideous chav-mobile. Pointless. Rubbish.

Dunno if I'd go that far, I'd buy it if the price was right :!: (& I don't like green :!:)

ive seen the bike at a local meet, not to everyones taste, but it is mint

and haggis where do you get £400 for a pro paint job from  the materials would cost more than that

if i was doing that in metal flake like it is i'd be more like £1000-£1200

i agree it is over priced and the "street fighter" on the back is a bit lame

i have been reading your posts for a while. to be fair the bike was over priced at the start but how do you put a price on something like this? even the dealer at street bike said stick it on for £4200. that said the majority of you are sad to be honest i have no problem with people and their opinions but you don't have to bother me with them who ever has been mailing me.

for the prink who said the bike has been binned down the road you are wrong maybe you can't ride properly and crashed yours a few times mine however didn't pass the UK MOT laws when it got back over here.
Ben i think i remember you (you met me with my mate on his 748 at bridge north right?) you have seen the bike it's not some hacked together sham.

the rear sets cost £300 the wheels are both of a k5 gixer (powder coated and flaked) you do the math for a brand new set of bridgestones. the paint was just over a grand (as ben has seen and said the flake effect on it is a top job (the street fighter logo is a transfer) the swing arm was £485 then add your new forks, brakes rear and back braided hoses ****in one off gp exhaust (which passed the MOT to the muppet who said it wouldnt). it goes on

I cant see why you don't want me to sell my bike so bad. if you don't like it then don't bother bitchin about it. I didn't like it when i got it back from LA but once you ride it and throw a wheelie with ease then it grows on you.

the only reason i'm selling her is because i pick up my R1 on sunday and can't afford two bikes.

A post full of contradictions. Didn't your original ad say you were going to work abroad?

I'm reminded of the guy with the harley, after he'd been on the program and had his H-D chopped about by the "pros" he had lost about £5k in value. He was well miffed

I think you're quite lucky, you didn't lose any value, but you'll see that :)

Tomo, got to say the bike isnt everyones cup of tea so to speak! but to be honest i think the general feeling is that its over priced! theres no doubting the quality of the parts but to be honest you'd get more money stripping it down and selling the parts on their own. dont get me wrong , if you get your money then good luck to you.

FFS let the guy sell his bike. Why the need to mail him and such  :?

Personally I think for a bike flown to where ever it was for a 'make over' it wasn't worth the flight. Complete waste of air space/time.

The main thing about bikes is the personal choices envolved, could you really let people have a free reign with your bike, and expect to get back something that you like. I'm damn sure i would'nt let anyone else mess with my bike less i knew exactly what i was getting.

It just goes to show you don't get something for nothing, he had a bike which he liked, and ended up with one that he did'nt, and by that point he just had to accept it cos they'd pulled it all apart.

As for the price, if he can get it, fair play, to someone else it may be worth that, but personally i'd by a real street fighter if i was spending that kind of money. I'd rather by a bike and spend the money getting exactly what i wanted, and for that price would be easily achievable.

Each to thier own i guess, we're all allowed are oppinions are'nt we.

Actually the rear wheel has curved spokes, which means it's a mid nineties GSXR rear wheel. Not a K5 with the diamond spokes like the front wheel.

Mismatched wheels... *Sucks teeth*

northwind
16-05-06, 09:06 AM
Spot on... Newer wheels don't fit in the standard swingarm, which is what that basically is. If they'd done it right, they could have fitted a GSXR wheel, but they cut that corner. They could have done it with a Bandit 12 wheel too, if they'd wanted to keep the spokes matching, but they cut that corner as well.

I'd like to see more pics of the exhaust... That and the paint are the best bits of the bike.

Yeah, the pipes are nice. I dont think I could live with "Street Fighter" painted onto my bike, but, the colour and finish are nice.
In fairness it has a radial gixxer front end.
If you got rid of the light, and those minging tyres, matched up that racing green and lost the "Awesome super ++ bike" writing, and put that nice matt black ceramic coating on the header pipes that Cloggsy mentioned, you would definately have a nice bike. It looks well put together and finished.
