View Full Version : Nutty Tart jumping out a plane - who will pay to help this?

Hiya folks. have decided that as im rapidly approaching my 40th birthday it was time to do something a bit different. Decided it was time I strapped a man to my back and jumped out of a perfectly good aeroplane at 10,000 feet.

I have decided to do this and take the opportunity to raise money for Cancer Research.

So its time to dig deep and sponsor me PLEASE.

Jump will hopefully take place on 22nd July this year.

Im in Edinburgh from 27th May - 31st and probably some point in June but with new job thats not certain.

Will try and catch up with you then if youre about. Otherwise will sort out with pm.

Oh and if you hate heights, you'll love it in a really weird kind of way.

I screamed the entirety of the freefall, but was happy as larry gently floating down.

Though Ive yet to get drunk enough again to agree to another one.

You'll love it, skydiving is the biggest rush you can imagine ;)
I would normally saydoing it solo is more fun, but for some reason I think you'll enjoy it more strapped to a hunky instructor

I'll donate. What you need to do is set up a donation page on the cancer research website. Makes things a lot easier for people to donate. I done it for vernas run last year.

I'll be more than happy to sponser you, just drop me a line with details n stuff.

I'd love to do something like this, but I figure that on landing my dodgy knee would just mean that my leg would fall off - which would at least mean I'd get a bionic replacement! (In my dreams, with the good ol NHS it's probably be Balck Beard's spare out of storage.)

course you could tara. its not as if i dont like heights or dislike flying :? much

but falling from 10,000 to 5000 feet at speeds in excess of 120 mph must be amazing. I hope

Hah, if I fell out of the sky with no parachute and landed on powerlines, and only got a few third degree burns, I'd consider myself the luckiest man alive- most people would just die :)

If its any consolation, I really, really, really hate heights. But Ive done a jump and its one of the most memorable few minutes of my life in an interesting, youd have to get me seriously drunk to agree to do it again but glad I did it kind of way. :D

Though Id suggest earplugs for the guy you're strapped to if you do what I did and scream the entirety of the freefall

You should really enjoy then, I've known one or two skydivers who where scared of heights. Its a different kind of feeling looking out of the door of an aircraft at 10,000 ft as it is standing on top of a tall building etc.

And if you don't like flying, all the more reason to get out of the plane.

The biggest shock you will feel is when the canopy opens (and thats pretty mild), if you have good tandem instructor the landing should be just like stepping off a small...... err, step.

You will love it

well i did it. wow.

was so nervous, staff were fantastic. they kindly pointed out it was only a fall of 2.5 miles.

45 seconds freefall, 6 mins under canopy (parachute, i didnt know, i was imagining alsorts) and graceful landing on bum.

raised over £500 for cancer research

wont be rushing to do it again though :?
