View Full Version : the life cycle - my mistake - its a top gun thread!!!

via email from mr M65.....

Our life cycle is all back to front.
You should die first, start out dead and get it out of the way.
Then you wake up in an old age home feeling better every day.You get kicked
out for being too healthy, go collect your pension, then, when you start work you get a gold watch on your first day.
You work 40 years until you're young enough to enjoy your retirement.
You drink alcohol, you party, you're generally promiscuous and you get ready for secondary School.
You go to primary school, you become a kid, you play, you have no responsibilities, you become a baby, then, you spend your last 9 months floating peacefully with luxuries like central heating, spa, room service on tap, larger quarters everyday, and finally you finish off as an orgasm.

Charlie: So lieutenant, where exactly were you?

Maverick: Well, we...

Goose: Thank you.

Maverick: Started up on a 6, when he pulled from the clouds, and then I moved in above him.

Charlie: Well, if you were directly above him, how could you see him?

Maverick: Because I was inverted.

Iceman: Bull****.

Goose: No he was man, it was a really great move. He was inverted.

Charlie: You were in a 4g inverted dive with a MiG28?

Maverick: Yes ma'am.

Charlie: At what range?

Maverick: Um, about 2 meters.

Goose: It was actually about 1 and a half I think. It was 1 and a half, I've got a great Polaroid of it, and he's right there, must be 1 and a half.

Maverick: Was a nice picture.

Goose: Thanks.

Charlie: Eh lieutenant, what were you doing there?

Goose: Communicating.

Maverick: Communicating. Keeping up foriegn relations. You know, giving him the bird!

Goose: [Charlie looks puzzled, so Goose clarifies] You know, the finger
[gestures apprpriately]

Charlie: Yes, I know the finger, Goose.

Goose: I-I'm sorry, I hate it when it does that, I'm sorry. Excuse me.

Depends on the website. Some say 900 others say things like this:

The Kawasaki GPz900R (Museum) Ninja deserves its place in the biking Hall Of Fame all right. Check out these credentials: it was the first production bike to reach 150mph. It dominated the production class at the Isle of Man TT. It sold in vast quantities. It even made its mark in Hollywood - well, almost: Tom Cruise ditched his Harley for a 750 version in Top Gun, and rode off with the girl. Perhaps the 900 was too fast for him...

:D

Yep thats encouraging with the car:

Not exactly sure if this is the make and I have no idea about the year. Hopefully one of you can give me more information on the subject. Anyways, here is a pic of a Volkswagen Karmann Ghia

"Jim Campbell" had this to say: "It is not a Volkswagen Karmann-Ghia, it's a Porsche 356, the first regular production vehicle Porsche ever produced. It was produced from 1948 to sometime in the mid-1960's. They are very similar in appearance though, one time, my dad was out driving his Karmann-Ghia and pulled up next to a 356. The driver of the 356 actually thought my dad's car was another 356. Whether the two designs are related, I'm not sure, but I wouldn't be surprised, as Porsche and Volkswagen have worked together before. A good way to tell the difference between the two cars is the nose. The Karmann-Ghia came to more of a point and had the two front grilles, whereas the 356 was more rounded and had no such grilles."

So they cant get the car right  :P  .

We're bikers and trying to differentiate between the 750 and 900 is hard enough let alone rely on a fansite. :P

Ok Ill also add on why I think its the 750. My ex, and first bike I ever went pillion on, was a GPZ900. Having sat on one, I cant see tiddly Tom on the 900 over the 750. End of day, the bikes are almost identical - but Tildos pic from the film in relation to Tom Cruises size would also suggest the 750 rather than the larger 900.

I think you will find he was stepping off the kerb here unless TC has a 35" inside leg, which at 5'7" I think is highly unlikely, Also what is with this "tiddly" thing? what is the average hight of a bloke surely he aint far off at 5'7" we are talking about a guys height here not his johnson where 2-3 inches would be considered a big difference.

The difference in seat hight of the 500 and the 1100 is a massive 1.3" i beleive, so I am imagining that the 900 is not too far from these. I am sure you will check this out as you hate to be proved wrong

I've been surfing around and there is the [possibility that the bike in top gun was a 750, but stickered up to look like a 900. The silver part of the front fairing gave it away as a 750 tho.

It's an old idea, seen in crappy bike pic Biker Boyz. One of the lead characters had a yello GSXR750, stickered up and refered to as a thousand
