View Full Version : Interview Time
If you are going for a new job interview in the city, would you go on your bike, or for the day take the train?
Me ive never had to take a formal interview in my life nor a city job, so it a tad odd and new for me.

I might go on mine, not sure about yours though
took the tube/bus, suited and booted, leaving bike gear in office.
But then my interview was at 2.30pm :D
Allow plenty of time though. But at least you wont have the hassle of all your bike gear and what to do with it outside the interview room.

Take the train that way your suit doesn't get crumpled and you don't have to worry about finding a parking space. Just allow extra time for our wonderful rail service!!!!
I would advise taking the train. Some people have weird idea's about bikers and you don't want to scare them off.
I'd take the train.
I had 4 interviews last year. 3 I went by bike and one a I took the girlfriends car. Got the job when I went by car and looked a bit more average person.
Lucky he didn't see the pink corsa...

I've got jobs when I've been to the interview by bike and worn leathers.
The one exception was a job with a company that I used to work for. My old boss wanted me back. I had to ride into work immediately after the interview (about 50 miles away), so went in my leathers. There was an arsy girl from HR in the interview who took exception to the leathers - even though I explained that I had to use the bike to get to my current job. Even though he wanted me, the cow vetoed it.
Later on, he offered me a different job. I dressed smartly for the interview, but this time he didn't invite HR!

Depends on the job.If it's a snotty job in a snotty company best go by train. If it's a job despatch riding,a bike would be a bonus, but proper leathers would be over the top.
I've been to interviews on my bike. I have had a suit on under my textiles. I just made sure I get there extra early and asked the receptionist if there was anywhere that I could change.
I left all my gear with the receptionist and went in for the interview. I got the job.
Take the train, wear your best gear (no not the S&M stuff  ), mind your P & Qs. Oh and good luck ;).
.
I've turned up for two interviews wearing leathers, and spent more time talking bikes that about the jobs I had gone for :D
I got both jobs
They were in a factory though, and I do think that for a more up market job in the city a suit and a train journey might be more appropriate. It shouldn't be that way, but it usually is.......people WILL judge a book by it's cover

It's usually too much of a gamble on whether the leathers will be a good thing in the interview so I'd say definitely get the train.

Like Lissa points out, depends on the job. In a big formal company, it could be a huge mistake to take the bike. It could also, however, be a great icebreaker, and if it's one of those companies that interviews dozens of people, it could help you stand out.
What do I know? The last interview I went to, I didn't even know what job it was- I just went to get the time off work.

I think I'd take the train then I wouldnt be worried about where I was parking my bike and where I was leaving all my kit.
Good luck with the interview TSM
I wouldn't care if someone came to an IV in leathers. But caution dictates - get the train.
Take the train mate, not worth the risk is it? Good luck!
