I tarmaced my bike once, but that was by accident.
Do you run barefoot down runways chasing Tornado jet fighters shouting "Woof!"?
:smt031 Yes?
Thought so!! :laughat:
humph! Some of us have to cover their bikes in gaffer tape because its the only thing holding it together. :(
But not quite managed ALL of the SV.
Now Hammerite on the other hand.... oh there are stories of my amusing attempts on a CBR.
End of day, if you want it black, just go and spray the damn panels. :P
Knew a bloke once who painted his car with 'non slip' deck paint...the paint that's got sand in it   Imagine getting hit by that .
He ended up having to explain to the MOD plod where he got his totally original painting scheme from :-dd ](*,) [-X
End of day, if you want it black, just go and spray the damn panels. :P
But you dont get it, that would cost too much and then I would have to tape the freshly painted panels to stop them from getting worn :smt021
I am usually in total agreement with the majority on this forum, this time however I really am begining to doubt my own sanity - it all seems so sensible to me :smt033
Considered spraying it yourself? It's not that hard - okay, so a tin isn't as good as a the real McCoy but you can have the satisfaction of doing it yourself. Leave the panels off until they're properly dry and well laquered - no problem. Hardest bit is the tank - most of the hard work is in the preparation, and being patient when spraying building up the layers.
Just do it - go on - dare ya!! :D
Considered spraying it yourself?
Oh yes, but I just cannot bring myself to damage the currently immaculate paint.
I want to see pics of the gaffer taped TLR...
BTW, I am not taping up the tank, I am getting a tank cover - do you think I am :cyclopsani:

That really was a joke......

He is in cahoots with Nothwind and is building a "Stealth" bike unrecogniseable to speed traps and it soon will have rotating number plates

Think there's nought wrong with that, a lot of couriers I know do it to stop the bikes getting scrated up by bungees etc

See, that looks ok from this distance.
But i'm even more curious as to your motives now. You aint gonna do the tank and you aint done the front fender.
So how much wear and tear will the rear plastics be subjected to with your normal usage? Do you have something strapped to the back most days or something?
you can get bubber protectors, but do what you want
