Not wishing to be a harbinger of doom...but,is it genuine? The bike's got an import's headlight. Mine only had a KM/H clock, which I had to have converted :-k

Yeah its all genuine, it was a parallel import sold new from Taz Motorcycles in peterbourgh with the MPH speedo converted b4 it was sold.

unfortunatly those horrible macadams have just been put on for the MOT by the guy who sold it me, theyve only covered 145 miles would seem daft to get rid of them

Good  That's the conversion I wish I'd had done  It just looks plain wrong the needles being so out of sync in higher gears

What are macadam tyres?

There made out of melted down lego and stickle bricks, there ROCK SOLID, good for doing lots of miles on, not so good for loads of grip.

tell me about it, my mate cleaned it for me and i cant belive how good its come up, i took it for a ride last night and when i got home i had to wipe it down to make sure it was clean again, i think im becoming obsessive.

Well make sure you give it a good service... a low mileage bike can be worse then I high ender simply though lack of use... Things won't have been worn in and oils may not have been changed enough. Also remember brake/other line (rubber) are ment to be replaced after 4 years, might be OK if they have had not been exposed to the elements.

yeah im going to service it ASAP, question is, do i do it myself (what would be involved) or do i take it to my local bike place to get the stamp in the book??

Well warranty is out the window... so it depends on how much of a confident mech you are. The main things are oil and oil filter, check the air filter, check the spark plug gaps and the plugs. Brake fluid may need replacing and maybe the fork oil. The rest is look over the bike at the hoses for signs of perishing, I'm sure Sid Squid will be along shortly with some really useful advice.

Change all lubricants. At least this way you will know that they have definitely all been done and 2nd you will have a base to start from.

Don't forget the coolant.

well ive done the oil tonight, feckin suzuki gave me the wrong sump plug washer so the old one had to go back on. cleaned, adjusted and re lubed the chain. Its now findint neutral much much better (it also had too much oil in) gonig to do the coolant over the weekend.

is that a fairing off jobbie??

I really wouldn't worry about putting the original sump plug washer back in. I've used the same washer since I've had the bike. 40 odd thousand miles with an oil change every 3 to 4 thousand miles. That would mean that I have used the same washer err... err....

Lots of times.

It hasn't started leaking yet.
