DO NOT! when messing around inside your PC, use Power exenders to fit in extra devices and then plug the extenders into each other creating power loops >_<
My PC was glowing a nice gentle orange, which is strange because the cold cathode tubes inside it are blue...then it started smoking >_<
I've just fried both my 250GB SATA Disks :(
Hopefully I've got away without damaging anything else though :(
WHOOOooooooOOOOOOSSSSHH!!!!
That was the sound of the above post going over my head.
Why don't people talk about bunny rabbits any more?

The rule is don't plug in chav extras and this don't happen.

Used to overclock mine, overclockes an 800 Duron was alright to 1.9 but when I pushed it to 2 it caught fire and fried the motherboard.

Poop, explain how you did this as its not possable using standard extenders because of the coded plugs (male = live feed, female = device or extender)

I'm trying to figure out exactly how I did it myself mate, belive me I was confused when It happened but what I do know is I plugged a male feed (blue splitter that came with the cathode) into a female connector and the disks blew.
When the disks started glowing orange in the **** and spitting at me I pulled everything out firstl because they were smoking and I didn't want all that **** getting round the case, and in some vain hope of saving something.
I'll stick up photo's of the setup when I get home to explain (to myself as well) how the heck this happened.
The only "Chav" extra in this box is the cold cathode tube which is damn handy when working inside the box because you can see stuff ^_^.

oops, sorry to hear this
I had a power supply problem with a previous pc, and for some reason (blonde moment !) I decided to flick the switch to change the power supply input from 250v to 110v. There followed a series of bangs as several components on the motherboard and graphics card went up in smoke
So not only did I need a new power supply, I also needed a new graphics card, new motherboard & new memory. Luckily the HD wasn't affected

OUCH!
I've seen that done one before.
Had a user on the phone (despite sitting 5 desks away) saying their machine wouldn't switch on.
Check, floor socket, yes, socket on, yes.
Ok check the switch at the back, is it on or off.
"I don't know" well ok try flicking it and trying again.
..did it work?
"One moment I just got the sticker off and I'm tying to switch it now, its pretty tough"
...sticker?? what sticker *BOOM*
Oh...the saftey seal to stop you changing the voltage switch.....
yeah I meant the big black power button above that which you just push, you know, the universally recognised black rocker switch with the o and I symobles on, not the tiny red slide switch one you have to pull a saftey seal off (Which says do no remove) and then use a small sharp object or your fingernails to switch....
