bits & bobs are OK if done well - but you can overdo it!!

Looks nasty on most cheap things, the only carbon fibre look I have is on my tank protector. Threw away the free fake carbon fibre tax disc holder given to me by the dealer as it was nasty looking and leaked. Real stuff rules if I could afford it.

REAL carbon fibre when used sparingly and tastfully is quite nice.

FAKE carbon fibre is cheep and chav, and belongs on novas

But to the lay person, is there any difference? From a visual point of view it looks the same. Unfortunately carbon fibre is a material that has been copied/faked/over used to the extent where it is tarnished with chavness, real or fake. The only carbon fibre that looks good, has been painted so that it doesn't look like carbon fibre

I don't even like the real thing, let alone the rubbish. At least, not as bolt-ons, it always looks like an afterthought.

If anyone managed to make fake c/f that was remotely convincing, that might be a little different, but it's always cack.

The faired ones do, yes. As fake carbon goes it's not bad, but it ain't the real thing either. A number of Ducatis and MV Agustas feature real carbon, you can tell the difference easily enough when you see the real thing!!! The real stuff has a lovely 3-dimensional look to it, as it's a cloth woven from thick carbon threads with a smooth epoxy coating on top of it.

Hmm, so-so. I do like the look of carbon fibre weave, but most of the time it doesnt look right. I have fork protectors in carbon lookalike, but they were there when I bought then, and I'm nervous about taking them off incase something is under them lol

Really? Mine didn't, and I don't think it's peeling now my mate has the bike and leaves it outside all the time with no cover. I did notice on our trip abroad that his yellow headlight flash button has faded quite badly though...

I mean, if you want it to. Mine came off in one deft pull, wee bit of contact cleaner removed the residue. Much nicer now.
