Reading GYNDs burnt toast thread got me thinking, when I had my prang last year I got a funny taste in my mouth, at the moment of impact. Not had it before or since. Kind of coppery - not sick or anything like that. Anyone else unfortunate enough to get knocked experienced this? I'm genuinely curious, I can *almost* taste it when I think of the accident :?

I've tasted iron before, but that would make sense, since I'd bitten my tongue when I hit the ground.

Blood has an odd metallic taste.
When A car pulled out on me, I experienced what I believe to be true fear.
My Heart tried to jump out of my mouth. Took a minute to calm down and if I stopped I would have probably vomited.
apparently someone who is going to take a fit can taste roses or the like before it comes on so maybe its related to that ....shock or summit dunno

I stopped a car with my face once and had a funny taste when I woke up in hospital. The worst part is that I had just got my shiny new VFR back from having a full stainless system. ****!

People suffering from heart attacks sometimes get a taste of copper in their mouths.
But I wouldnt take this to mean you had one, they would have known in the hospital.

not blood?
Nope, It was similar enough to make me think it was at first, but it was quite different... not had it before or since (crosses fingers)
Adrenaline?
Can you really taste adrenaline in an event like that? Perhaps it really was the taste of fear

Nope! Fear smells and has a brown tinge to it!

No idea :) It has loads of weird physical side-effects though, especially in large doses.
I had something similar during my head-on collision with a car. When I landed, I had a metallic taste in my mouth and at the time I assumed I had bit my tongue or something but never did find anything.

That's it exactly... weird eh?
I've had it too! When I was knocked off when I was 16!
There was plenty of blood about, none in my mouth!
Blood tastes of iron,as thats whats in it.
I think it may be something to do with the natural drugs/chemicals your brain emits when something bad/good is about to happen.
Just like everything slows down in accident situations.
When I had my big one,I remember everything happening so slowly, but thinking at normal speed, and saying to myself,
"Oh no! Not again!"
Then it was Earth-sky-earth-sky-Ambulance.
The reason for the "not again" was the week before,I came off going over a roundabout too fast, not knowing diesel was there,it was dark,I thought at the time,
"don't scratch your crash-helmet", It was/is a Scott Russel rep,I didnt scratch it then, but I sure did on the next crash!
