My GSXR front end has started to give majour noise under moderate braking and I'm starting to get vibrations in the clip-ons

I'm thinking the head bearings need tightening :? , am i right???

I had the same the second day i installed the frontend on mine. Now the main vibe i get is when braking and its a quick high freq vibe in relation to the wheel speed and brake presure.

How do you know how tight the headstock bolt needs to be?

Not sure if it the headbearings are causing the problem, but to adjust mine I use a small hanging scale to measure the tension - from memory its 300g of 'pull' on the yolk before it moves - I think its in the Haynes manual for the curvy.

I've alsways just used "Tighten till restrictive, then back off, check for wobbles".

I'm thinking: head bearings, wheel bearings, discs, something else very loose. I'm not staking my reputation on this :)

I'll check the whole front end thorougly including the pad pins. They can come off if you are very unlucky (don't ask how aI know and yes it was torqued up correctly.)

As per head race bearings I use a tool (now) but used to do it just by feel. For me it was one of those jobs which I never really likeed. I've also got a spring scale but that would assume you have no binding from cables etc.

Also if the bearings are very loose the front end would wonder a bit(might be masked by the steering damper you have though) and you should be able to feel the click/movement as you brake and would knacker(technical term) you bearings.

Cheers
