I cant remember who is going from down ere....
Do you want to ride up and meet Jelster for a hoon up the motorway in the evening, Or do you fancy a little more of a sedate ride up on Friday afternoon ?
Liz and are planning on leaving at Lunchtime on the friday and riding up in the afternoon. If anybody wants to join us let me know and we can organise a meet up point.
Me and MattSV are going. I think the plan for us was to leave mid afternoonish and take a more sedate bimble* up.
*yeah right

If you're at Poole tomorrow Scoobs do you wanna chat about it then and see what we can sort out ?

Aye. No probs.
As my PA said - I have the whole day off on the Friday so an afternoon *bimble* suits me fine

Liz cant take the day off and she is short of holiday. However she is cranking up her flexi time and reckons she'll be able to be finished by 12:30.
Afternoon bimble sounds good to both of us.
Matt where do you reckon a good point to meet up would be ? Which way are you and Scoobs going.
Hope you had a good holiday
Yep - great holiday thanks.
Haven't really planned a route apart from A34/M40/A43/M1/A6 - open to suggestions though
Somewhere on the A34 would make sense assuming you will come up the A303 - Tot Hill services at Newbury would be good I think - easier/quicker to get on/off the A34 there than at Chievely, plus we get to blat through the underpass underneath the M4 then at a 'decent' speed.
Scoobs and I are going to met either at mine or at M27 J7 (Sainsburys filling station) I think and then probably go M27/M3/A34 - unless we decide to go cross country on the twisties to A34.

Havent really planned the route either.
Liz lives right on the A303, So somewhere on the A34 sounds perfect. If you reckon Tot Hill is the best place then that sounds a good idea.
I'll have a natter with her and consult yee olde map and see what else might work.

Well as all but 1 of the southern posse have decided not to go, I'm up for an earlier departure and we can meet you at somewhere like Watford Gap.
If there's time I was going to take a route through the Peak District to get up to Skipton for early evening.
.
Meet at Watford Gap sounds good Steve - 95 miles from Tot Hill so just about right for a fuel stop anyway.
I think Scoobs is back from hols this weekend so we could confirm precise details then - gut feel is that the meet at Watford Gap should be about 1 1/2 hours after we leave Tot Hill (so that Scoobs can keep up).
Round trip going directly to Skipton and back is around 530 miles for me so a few extra miles going via the Peak District won't make too much difference and sounds good. With the Sat/Sun rideouts it looks as though it could be 1000 miles in a weekend!!!

Sounds good to me. I'll check with Liz that this is OK with her tongiht.
Matt if you and Scoobs go to Poole next week maybe we could sort out details then.

So dudes, are we on for this, and about what time are you going to get there ??
.
Steve - I am up for meeting at Watford Gap & then finding a more interesting route up there - need to check and see what time Scoobs can get away (he is on hols til this weekend I think).
I can leave anytime from around 10:30 so could in theory meet Fizz/Liz at 11:30ish at Newbury, and be at Watford Gap by 1pm - happy to leave later if that suits everyone better.
Arriving in Skipton early evening sounds good - I think ideally I would like to be up there by around 6ish to leave a few hours to chill and have a beer or two.
I think once we know Scoobs' movements (ewwwww) we will be able to start finalising plans - assuming Fizz has cleared it with Liz

Fizz/Liz at 11:30ish at Newbury, and be at Watford Gap by 1pm - happy to leave later if that suits everyone better.
Thats to early for us I dont think Liz will be able to leave work till lunch time ( around 12:30 ) at the earliest.
I shall check with the boss tomorrow though :D

Best you do that, is she going to allow you to bring your GSXR ?
I did notice that you said Lizz couldn't get away until about 12:30. To give you some idea, Yeovil to Watford Gap is about 160 miles, so maybe we should be looking at about 4pm ??

I think I might be allowed to bring it. My SV is still off the road
I've got friday off but Liz hasnt. So I'll ride up to Amesbury on Thursday night so I'm already there. Amesbury to Newbury is a short hop up the A303, then onto the A34.

Fizz, a good road to Newbury from Andover is to get on the A343.
Its a bit of a twisty road but is fun to ride IMO.
Also saves a bit on time and the A34 can be so boring unless of course your planning to give it a bit of beans. :D :D

I think we'll be giving it some beans. But thanks for the tip.
OK Liz says she should be away from work by 12:30 at the latest. So what time should we be looking to meet at Tot Hill ?
Fizz - Amesbury to Tot Hill Services is 37 miles.
Hedge End (where Sccobs & I will meet) to Tot Hill is 40 miles and is motorway/dual carriageway all the way for us .
Therefore if we all look to leave at 12:30 we could aim to meet at Tot Hill at 13:15, and leave there by 13:30 - suggest we fuel up there. This should enable us to meet Steve at Watford Gap (93 miles from Tot Hill) to fuel up again and leave there at around 15:00 (Steve - we could text you when we are leaving Tot Hill so you know we are on our way!).
Fizz/Lizz, Jelster, Scoobs - if this is OK with you all please confirm.
Any volunteers for sorting a route from Watford Gap :?:
Scoobs - if this is OK with you all please confirm.
I can't get away from work until 12:45, so will not get on the road until about 1 to 1:15. I could get to Hedge End by 1:30, so everything should be as MattSV has described but 1 hour later......!

Right then.....
This 'ere Autoroute thingy reckons Watford Gap to Hellifield (where we're staying) is 155 miles, so you'd better allow 3 1/2 hours as it's Friday night and we'll need a fuel stop. Tot Hill to Watford Gap is 82 miles (according to same software) which is going to be at least 90 minutes, so if you'll need to leave there at 14:15 latest, to get to Watford Gap, fill up and depart for 16:00. In which case we'll be looking at reaching the B&B by about 19:30, maybe a little later if the traffic is heavier.
I'll check with my mate to see what he wants to do, he may want to leave a bit earlier and make the most of his day off, so I'll check back with you in a couple of days.
Just a week to go, let's hope that this weather holds....

Sounds good to me Jelster
Have just checked the forecast on metcheck (http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/dayforecast.asp?zipcode=Skipton&day=4) and it is looking damn good 8)
We have a plan
Sccobs & I will meet at J7 M27 at 1:30
M27/M3/A34 to Tot Hill - 40 miles - 40 mins (ish!)
Meet Fizz/Liz and top up fuel - leave Tot Hill asap
A34/M40/A43/M1 to Watford Gap - 93 miles - at least 90 mins (50 limit on A34 around Oxford & some singlecarriageway roads on A43)
Fuel up at Watford Gap - probably a good time for a quick coffee/loo stop - as the next leg is going to be the killer. I am more than happy to have more coffee/loo breaks if needed!
M1 to Woolley Edge Services - 103 miles - probably going to be a good couple of hours at least as it will be rush hour on the M1 - I am more than happy filtering however would prefer not to be doing it at 'silly speeds' if possible
M1/M621/A643/A58/A65 to Hellifield - 53 miles - 1 hour
If all goes well, this should get us to Hellifield at about 7:30pm at the ealiest - I'll be more than ready for a pint and some grub by then.
JELSTER - due to the time that Scoobs can get away from work  , we cannot guarantee being at Watford Gap by 4pm - not sure what your plans are yet however if you want to head on up there without us then just let us know.
Fizz/Liz - can you confirm if this plan looks ok with your goodselves.
