Fascinates me at the time of some of the posts on the site The number of late night posts. I'm a morning person and 11:00pm is late for me but I wake before six even on my days off[about 6hrs sleep] What are other peoples sleep/awake habits? and I can understand people being on shift work and posting at night while bored at work but some others must be insomniacs :smt015
Usually midnight is my bedtime for workday. Weekends it all depends on who has to get up with the kids the next morning.

head to bed about 9 ish during the week to chat on phone to bf
up at 6 to clean the bank, back to get kids up for school, breakfast, shower and off to work. running kids back and forward to various activities between 4 and 8 most nights.
not a morning person, cant be bothered speaking to anyone, but i make up for it during the day  i just need a lot of sleep.
Insomnia is the worst part of my depression tbh.
Because even when I finally get to sleep I dont sleep properly.
And its quite common for it to be a 4am/5am fall asleep time. Ive got tablets atm but even they arent working properly. :(
Id gone about 3 weeks without sleeping properly last month - and its pretty bloody obvious when you go back and look at my posts that it was taking its toll. Id lost any ability to think properly, reason well, and developed an extremely good knack for upsetting people and lost my normal ability not to take anything on an internet site seriously.
I really hate it when it happens.

:grouphug:
Me I'm an early bird up at 5 bed by 9ish most nights due to Falcs shifts
10:30-11:00pm during the week as I like to be in work by 8:00am - flexitime is a wonderful thing :D
TBH, not much later at weekends coz I'm usually comatose on red wine by the time MOTD comes on in the winter, and because, during the summer, I like to go for Sunday early-morning blast on the bike before other commitments during the day.

I sympathise, I know exactly how insommnia feels. I have to work until either 8pm or 10pm most evenings, and get up at 4:30 am the rest, plus I'm on call two in eight all night. Add to that occasional night work... try fitting a normal lifestyle around that, its impossible.
All the time I'm at work I'm pin sharp, most of my free time I'm like a sack of ****! - feels like your heads full of cotton wool all the time. I too have pills, but I try to avoid using them. Having next to no social life I decided some time ago to quit, but I'm going to have to wait another 4 or 5 years in order to boost my pension as best as I can. Then I shall probably sleep for a year and a day :D

I, on the other hand, am very slack ;) I live 10 minutes from work, and I start at half 9, so along with not needing much sleep I'm usualyl up pretty late.
Up at 7. Get kids ready for school, breakfast, shower, school trip then go off to work. Finish work at 3 then collect the girls then home. Tidy up. B/F gets home 5.30. We eat dinner, tidy up then put kids to bed by 8. I then have cpl hours peace and quiet. Usually popping on to post the odd reply or 3
Bed for me is usually 10.30-11 but very rarely get to sleep right through cos of the kids.
:winner:
I take my hat off to you Nutty. I think you're Superwoman! :smt059
I find it hard enough getting up at 7 sorting out 3 kids and trying to be out of the house by 8.30! I'm not surprised you're in bed at 9pm!

Do you do much exercise? Try walking or going to the gym before bed time, if you haven't already. I've real problems sleeping too. If I didn't workout late in the evening, I'd be up till all hours too.

Lyn, I agree with Ulster I always would take the dog for a long walk late evening and I don't know if it is a good dose of fresh air or what but that made me sleep like a log
The other thing that made me sleep for England was sailing, possibly the fresh air thing again[plus a few sherberts before bed]
Bedtime for me during the week is normally around midnight as I have to get up at 6.
Weekends I stay up until I'm tired, but unfortunately still tend to wake up around 6!
Damned internal clock

Work week on/week off. 2 shifts either
11pm-09.30 or 0300-1430.
week off up till 2 or 3 in't morning.only up early if it's for fishing or photography.
I'm not usually a morning person but slowly getting used to shift work, have to be awake by about 4:45am so tend to grab an early night around 9.
So on a sat and I sleep in till 8 it feels great :D

Big dog, thats my first big bike you have as an avatar.
.
I've got one of those too  It's pink and black with modern-ish suzuki front and rear ends and renthals. It handles like a bike and not a wayward shopping trolley now
I'm a great believer in listening to my body and sleep when tired - so my sleep patterns are somewhat erratic. :?
When I was going out to work I would be up by 6:30/7ish with a bed time that varied between 10pm -2am!
Since I've been home though I've really had the chance to indulge my bodyclock and so generally seem to work best on a 6 hours up then 4 hours sleep rotation.
Which is great for those days when it's too hot to work in my conservatory (my workshop), I get to naturally siesta from about 11am till 3pm.
I have been known to stay awake for upwards of 80 hours straight working to meet a deadline - I was told you get hallucinations after 72 hours. I didn't get any and was very dissapointed. :(
Strangely I didn't feel tired at all when doing this - and only slept about 12 hours straight for the following couple of days. See, bodyclocks are wonderful things.
But then I listen to my body regarding food too - which may explain why my diet is appaling and barely enough to keep a sparrow alive according to most people.
Depends what i'm doing though I'm not a night owl.
Back shift should be in bed by eleven though normally get hooked on the net or a book so I normally see 1am regular
DAy shift in bed by 10.30 as I'm knackered
Regardless of shift I'm normally awake at 7 except for the past week when i been wide awake a 5am
Usually about 11pm but I'm having probs sleeping lately. Last night it was gone 3:30am before I got my head to shut up enough to fall asleep.
Alarm goes off at 6:45am. Hopefully after a week or so of this I'll be too knackered and sleep won't be so difficult. :P

The problem with that is it depends when I exercise. It has a habit of waking me up even more making it harder to sleep :? :( .
Just started new job which has a gym so Ill be joining and using that. Timing it just before home will be better than doing it later for me.
But hoping that will work. Though last night was ok, I actually managed to get to sleep by 9.15 with a 5.45 start this morning. :D
Bedtime for me during the week is normally around 22h30 then awake at 05h00 to leave for work around 06h00...normally shattered by the time friday comes around :smt015

Good to hear :) 9.15 is early :D
I exercise, have something to eat, then straight to bed. Asleep within an hour.
Just as well too. There's only so much Quizmania one man can take.

have always been a light sleeper though can doze off almost at will
always got by on 4 or 5 hrs max, any more than 6 then I have a severe sore head
since I drive a fair bit up and down the UK, if tired then pull over almost immediately for a 10 or 15 min nap, its amazing how that can re-charge the body
past 3 years have been on heavy duty pain killers (and will be indefinitely) so thats made the above very erratic, i.e. can be totally knacked and sleeping by 12 only to wake between 3 and 4 and not be able to get back to sleep again.
used to get uptight about it but not anymore, just read or tidy up the mickey moose till its time to go to work
typical week was last week, usual 4 hrs mon & tues then down to Huddersfield till Fri, (when away we tend to work longer hours at night and earlier starts with breakfast between 7 & 7:30), back home about half 8 then bed for 2ish then back up & on the road to noocastle at 7am and back home early evening
mostly when working away, the sleep seems to be even more dodgy
oh sheet, enough of my sleep woes, better try and get me head down as up bright and early again tomorrow to head back down to sunny england
sorry if you fell asleep midway through this post as I do tend to go on a bit, probably because I dont sleep a lot :?
